His heartbeat thundered in his ears, so loud it almost drowned out everything else.
His body grew warmer, his muscles tensed, and his vision sharpened as if the world had slowed down.
"Damn," he muttered, clenching his fists. "This… this feels insane. It feels like I have drugged myself with some good stuff."
He didn't have long to marvel. The first specter raised its hand, conjuring a fireball that crackled with searing energy before hurling it directly at him.
