While he was in the forest, the younger Hypno gradually weakened while his older brother grew stronger. With the passage of time, the younger Hypno at most managed to prevent his brother from capturing all the Trainers he saw, as was the case with Charlotte, but no matter how hard he tried, he could not reach the nest where the children were being held captive.
That was until, by chance, he ran into Max and somehow they finally managed to stop his crazed brother.

"There's just one thing I don't understand, after having been through so much, why did you decide to help the boy? I think that if I had been in his situation even I would have reacted like your brother" I said with a little sadness after the last sentence, the Hypno just thought for a second and smiled nonchalantly as if the answer was obvious "MY PROTECTIVE FATHER, SO ME TOO" the tired Hypno answered through telepathy.
For a moment I was speechless, I even felt ashamed of my own species, sometimes I forget how Pokémon are sensitive beings like humans, even among them there are beings as good and pure-hearted as the Hypno in front of me.
As I remained silent the Hypno stepped forward and lifted his hand from his pendulum before sending another message via telepathy "Will you look after my brother?" For a moment I was surprised by the fluidity with which the Hypno 's now clear voice could be heard , but I quickly ignored it and replied: "I'm sorry, I actually think your brother wouldn't be happy with me, the best thing I can do is make sure the League sends him to a quiet reservation where he can be at peace" I said resolutely hoping that my answer would reassure the Hypno who had helped me so much.
The Hypno thought for a second before nodding. It seemed that just knowing his brother would be calm was enough to give him peace as well. Feeling sorry for my new friend, I said in a low tone, "If you want, I can talk to the Gym leader in the city I'm from so they can send you to the same reserve as him."
The youngest of the brothers didn't hesitate for a second before answering me through telepathy: "No, my brother and I grew too distant, I don't think he could be at peace with me around him," he said with a sad tone as he looked ahead, lost in his thoughts.
Feeling the weight of his words I remained silent a little uncomfortable, I could only imagine what was going through my new friend's head, so after a few seconds of silence and hoping to lighten the atmosphere I said out loud: "On the bright side it seems your power has improved quite a bit! Now I hear you with greater clarity and coherence" I said with a smile giving a little elbow to the Hypno who just smiled knowingly before raising his pendulum: "Actually, it's not that my power has improved, it's just that it's easier to communicate with you through that pendulum you have in your hands" he said through telepathy while pointing at my hand that still had the pendulum of the newly captured Hypno .
"I spent my whole life with my brother, that's why it's easy to connect with the remnants of his power, partly because of that I could always know where he was no matter where he hid" he said through telepathy with a calm smile, I quickly understood and said with a hurried tone: "I'm so sorry, I focused so much on the memories you showed me that I forgot to return the pendulum to you" I commented while trying to return the pendulum with an apologetic tone.
The Hypno just laughed and answered me telepathically: "It's not necessary, honestly I had forgotten you had it until a few seconds ago when I tried to talk to you properly" he said in a calm tone while raising his hands a little, preventing me from returning the pendulum to him "You guys like to keep things from your battles, right? That's why you have those colored stones with you" he said telepathically in an almost amused tone.
"Stones?" I thought for a second until I realized he was referring to the medals some Trainers hung on their vests as decoration: "If something like that, if it's a gift then I'll keep it, I think that's better than returning it to its owner and tempting him with the idea of resuming his plan," I said as I looked at the pendulum in my hands.
The Hypno nodded and after thinking about it for a few seconds, he put on a face as if he had an idea and with a smooth movement he cut a piece of the thread from his own pendulum and handed it to me: "Use it on my brother's pendulum, so you'll have a part of both of us wherever you go," he said telepathically as he handed me the piece of thread.
Feeling moved by my friend's gesture, I didn't hesitate to take the thread and tie it to the pendulum I was holding, then hang it around my neck as a pendant. "How about that? It looks more interesting, doesn't it?" I said, striking a few funny poses, trying to model the new necklace.
The Hypno watched me for a few seconds before letting out a loud laugh: "You're quite funny, my friend," he said telepathically before adding: "Aside from being a good accessory, my brother's residual energy combined with mine should be able to protect you to a certain extent from intrusions into your mind, of course, as long as you carry it with you at all times," he said while lightly patting me on the shoulder.
Seeing that he felt more comfortable with me I smiled and replied: "Rest assured that I will have him with me, thank you very much Hypno " I said as I stopped to think about the great benefits that this little "Adventure" brought me, thoughts that were only interrupted by the loud sound of my stomach: "I think I should go home, I have to make sure that the other children arrived safely and I'm sure Mother Clarisse will be worried about me since it's after midnight" I said as I opened my Pokenav and looked at the time before looking up and asking the Hypno : "What will you do now that your brother is trapped? Do you need help getting back home?"
The Hypno remained serious for a second and answered: "I think I'll stay here, many people pass by and I would like to make sure they arrive safely to their destinations" he said with determination through telepathy almost convincing himself that that was his purpose and then added: "Speaking of helping, I think I'll guide you to the entrance of the forest, it's very late and I don't think you'll get home safely in that condition" he said while looking me up and down.
Almost as if I felt the weight of his words, I stopped for a second to look at my own appearance. I was actually a bit battered after the fight, and although I wasn't in too much pain, I still felt bad from the blow I received against the tree.
"I think I'll take you at your word. With you, I can get back home quickly," I said, putting an arm around the Hypno and supporting me as we walked. We only walked for a few minutes until we reached the safe path in the woods. Luckily, the fight wasn't too far from the main road, and the path was easy to find.
We had almost reached the exit when we heard a loud trot of something large before hearing a shout "There they are!" the voice sounded familiar, it didn't take long before we could see a group approaching led by an Arcanine that had on its back a Young Trainer who was barely holding on to the oldest of the escaped children who was screaming excitedly while waving his hands.
When they reached where we were they became serious for a second before looking at the Hypno who was helping me walk, the oldest of the children shouted "What are you waiting for?! Help him ! That monster has him!" He said urgently while his eyes were watery from the emotion of finding me.
Quickly guessing how the situation would end, I took a step forward before declaring: "Wait ! The Hypno who committed the attacks has already been captured ! Here he is!" I said while raising the Great Ball hoping the Trainers would hear me.
"Let's hear what Max has to say before someone gets hurt," said the Trainer holding the boy, whom I quickly identified as Patrick, the same Trainer who gave me the Great Ball .
"It's good to see you Max," Pat said before getting off his Arcanine and approaching where I was. "Same here Pat, I'm glad you ended up staying longer than expected," I said as I raised my hand in greeting before shaking my friend's.
What followed next felt like an ordeal. I had to tell what had happened before the Trainers decided to leave the Hypno who had saved me alone. I even saw the oldest of the children thank him with tears before we said goodbye and returned to Pewter City on the back of Pat's Arcanine .
I don't really know how it happened, but I think tiredness caught up with me and I fell asleep on the Arcanine 's back , so when I woke up it was already daylight and I found myself in a bed in the Pokemon Center with a sleeping Mother Clarisse sitting next to me.
Feeling somewhat sorry for the worry I must have caused her, I tried to get up quietly, but Mother Clarisse, sensing my movement, stood up at the same time before stopping for a second, looking at me in relief and quickly giving me a hug. "Max! Thank God you're okay ! " she said with tears in her eyes as she squeezed me tightly.
"I'm sorry for everything Mother Clarisse " I said with tears in my eyes feeling guilty for everything I caused, "I should have listened to you and stayed in the city" I added the last part with a low voice almost like a whisper, Mother Clarisse stopped hugging me for a second before looking me in the eyes and speaking with a calm gesture "I will never be happy that you risk your life, but I have never felt more proud of you until the moment those children and the Trainers who brought you told me everything you did" she said with a modest smile before adding "I always knew you had a heart of gold but it was a surprise to know that you also have the courage to do the right thing" she said the last part before ruffling my hair.
For a second I wanted to object, it was really all a huge coincidence, it almost seemed like some kind of Karma that got me into that situation because of my attempt to hunt the Ekans that killed Pidgey , but I decided to keep quiet, a person like Mother Clarisse deserves peace and although I am not the child she raised I feel indebted for everything she has done for me, I could even say that she is the most important person to me in this new world since she showed me a love and appreciation that I could only call unconditional.
Mother Clarisse seemed to take my silence as an indication that something was wrong, but before I could continue speaking the door to the room opened and Nurse Joy entered with her characteristic smile. "Apparently the hero of Viridian Forest is awake!" he said, stifling a laugh and waiting for my reaction.
Mother Clarisse , who didn't seem bothered by the interruption of our conversation, clapped her hands together before adding, " That's right, Max! Now the whole town knows what you did, and you've earned yourself a big reputation! " she said with a radiant smile, almost as if the achievement was hers.
I think my face revealed my internal conflict because Nurse Joy quickly added trying to get me out of my confusion: "You may not know Max, but the Hypno you captured was level 42, in that forest the highest record of a wild Pokémon was an old Pinsir of level 35 that was considered the strongest in the place" she said with a smile while putting on a radiant smile: "Basically only the Gym Leader of the city or several Trainers with 6 or 7 Badges could capture it without suffering major injuries"
It really didn't take me long to understand why they seemed so happy about my achievement, it was truly a miracle and a series of coincidences that made it possible for me to capture that Pokemon , if the circumstances had been even a little different or the Hypno had stopped to think about his actions he would have easily finished us all off.
Feeling excited too I remembered the Hypno and quickly started looking for the Great Ball where I had it so I could give it to Nurse Joy , but she guessed my intentions and spoke "I hope you don't mind Max, but I went too far and took the Hypno you captured and sent it through the PC to the league so they could put it in captivity, I'm sorry but it was very dangerous for a Trainer of your level to have that kind of Pokemon " she said with some regret for taking away from me what she believed was an easy way to achieve victory in the first Gyms without much effort.
Smiling calmly at him I said in a calm tone, "Don't worry, that was always my intention, I just hope they sent him to a place where he can find the happiness that was taken away from him," I said the last part with a sad tone as I remembered the encounters that Hypno had with what appeared to be two Gym Leaders that I would eventually face on my way to the top.
Nurse Joy seemed to think for a moment and then spoke in an amused tone, "I hope you didn't think I just took your Pokemon away from you . I remind you that there was a formal request from the league to capture that Pokemon , so why don't you see your Trainer ?" "License ?" he said the last part with an expectant smile as he handed me my Trainer. License .
with a comical gesture I almost fell back into bed when I could see the new balance of my Trainer License .
