Chapter 261 - Craziest Adventurer: Mahiro!
In less than a minute, the Loki Familia's expedition team covered a few kilometers.
The deeper they ventured, the clearer the roars of monsters became.
The ground tremors showed no sign of weakening.
Seeing Finn and the others catching up, Bete slowed his pace to join them.
"Captain, do you smell that?" Bete asked suddenly, his expression twisting oddly as he ran.
"This scent..." Finn's face shifted too.
"Anti-Morbule," Ais said, her speed nearly matching Finn's and Bete's.
"Which lunatic would dare use Anti-Morbule here?" Bete's voice rose in disbelief, his face a mix of shock and incredulity at detecting the scent here.
Anti-Morbule wasn't unfamiliar to the high class adventurers of the Loki Familia.
Yet even they rarely used it. It was reckless and dangerous.
The item's sole purpose was to attract monsters, but luring low-level ones offered little reward, while drawing too many high-level ones could spell doom.
Dungeon exploration was an adventure, true, but most adventurers opted for a cautious, steady approach.
Using such items in the lower floors was like teetering on a cliff's edge.
Even a Level 5 like Bete wouldn't risk it lightly.
A monster party triggered here could overwhelm even high class adventurers.
The scent explained why they'd felt tremors from the floor above—some mad adventurer had used Anti-Morbule, sparking a monster frenzy.
Abruptly, they halted, stunned into silence.
Then they witnessed a sight rare even in the deep floors: a writhing mass of darkness ahead—not a cloud, but an army of monsters.
Amid chaotic roars, a swarm of monsters—some lumbering on land, others swooping from the sky—charged toward the center of an encirclement, their snarls ferocious.
The Loki Familia, seasoned in the lower and deep floors, recognized these as nearly every monster type the 27th floor could spawn.
At the heart of the chaos stood a lone figure, besieged by thousands yet moving with calm.
"I can't believe it's only been two days, and he's already on the 27th floor," Riveria said, her voice tinged with surprise.
"And even crazier than before."
She'd first met him on the 17th floor, where that person had stolen their target, the monster rex Goliath.
That delay had let them witness his fight against the monster, revealing his extraordinary potential.
Yet, just two days later, he'd pulled off something unthinkable again: using Anti-Morbule to gather every monster on the floor.
The sheer number of Level 3 monsters was staggering.
Even Goliath, a monster rex, would likely be overwhelmed instantly by such a horde.
"He's gotten stronger," Ais observed, her gaze fixed on the scene.
"Yeah, his skills are sharper than before," Tione added.
As a close-combat specialist, she could see his growth since their last encounter on the 18th floor.
"Whoa, it's Mahiro!" Tiona exclaimed, her face lighting up with a delighted grin as she recognized him.
"Who's this guy?" Bete growled, biting his lip in frustration at their reactions.
Staring at Mahiro's figure, he muttered, "With that kind of strength, there's no way he's unknown."
"Riveria, you all seem to know him. Could he be...?" Finn asked, a slight smile tugging at his lips as he pieced it together from Ais and the others' expressions.
"You're right," Riveria confirmed.
"This is the boy who outdid Loki back then—the one I told you about."
"I see," Finn said, a hint of admiration in his voice.
"Now I get why you all respect him. This courage alone earns mine."
Using Anti-Morbule to gather monsters in the lower floors—solo, no less—was a boldness Finn lacked.
Surrounded by so many Level 3 monsters, even he, a Level 6 dubbed as Braver, risked death if a single misstep occurred.
Only the full might of the Loki Familia could confidently take on such a swarm.
"No way!" Bete protested, shaking his head.
"He's supposed to be a rookie adventurer!"
"How could he reach the 27th floor and kill monsters like this? That strength can't belong to a rookie!"
Bete hadn't seen Mahiro's battle with Goliath firsthand.
His only info came from Loki and it clashed wildly with the figure now facing a monster army.
"What's impossible? The proof's right in front of you," Tiona huffed, crossing her arms in annoyance.
