Chapter 271 - You Made It Up!

Chapter 271 - You Made It Up!

Mahiro paused at Tiona's words.

"You're saying you don't have mana in you?" he asked, eyeing Tiona with a hint of doubt.

"Yeah, if it's that stream-like thing you mentioned, I don't feel it at all," Tiona admitted candidly.

"Haven't you mastered any magic?" Mahiro pressed.

Though magic was one of the basic abilities, it rarely mattered to most adventurers.

Only upon mastering a spell would the magic stat rise from its default.

Without magic, it stayed dormant—a non-factor in ranking up.

"Nope, my magic column's always been empty," Tiona said with a sheepish grin.

"Mahiro, I don't feel that kind of thing either," Ais added, her gaze tinged with suspicion.

"Didn't you master a magic, Ais?" Mahiro asked.

"Yes, Ariel," Ais nodded.

Now Mahiro found it odd.

Tiona's lack of mana made sense—she hadn't awakened any spells.

But Ais shouldn't be empty.

It didn't add up.

"Then what do you use to cast magic?" he asked, puzzled.

"Mind or Mental power," Tiona replied as if it were obvious.

"Same," Ais confirmed.

'Mind/Mental power...' Mahiro mulled it over, a realization dawning.

"Ais, how do you feel after using magic?" he asked, sensing his grasp of Falna might be off—skewed by his own unique nature.

"A little tired," Ais replied.

After a pause, she elaborated, "If I use it too long, I get sleepy and want to rest."

"Mahiro, don't you get side effects from magic?" Tiona asked, curiosity piqued.

"I do, just..." Mahiro frowned, piecing it together.

Overusing mana burdened the body, and Ais's fatigue was a textbook symptom of mana drain.

"What's wrong?" Tiona asked, concerned by his silence.

"Mahiro..." Ais echoed, her tone soft but worried.

"It's nothing—I've figured it out," Mahiro said, his expression clearing.

"Figured what out?" Tiona asked, baffled.

"The role of Falna," Mahiro explained.

A Falna catalyzed human potential into tangible power.

For typical adventurers, it skipped a step: getting mana.

They cast spells using mental energy alone, no mana required.

Mahiro, with inherent mana, hadn't noticed this distinction—his falna adapted to him.

"So, Mahiro, can't we use your magic without so called Mana?" Tiona asked.

"Can't we?" Ais tilted her head, her stoic face betraying a faint disappointment.

Her thirst for magic, stoked by Mahiro, now teetered on the edge of deflation.

"Don't worry," Mahiro reassured them, shaking his head.

"Magic's essence is vitality—every living being has it. I planned to teach you spellcasting and mana control, but now we'll need an extra step."

"There's a way for us to gain that magic power?" Tiona's eyes sparkled.

Ais's dim gaze brightened too.

"Yes," Mahiro nodded, "but it requires a ritual."

"A ritual?" Ais echoed.

"What kind?" Tiona asked, both staring at him with keen curiosity.

"A pledge of allegiance," Mahiro said, pausing for effect.

"Swear something like 'I'll never leave you and will always be loyal' in front of me."

Ais gazed at him silently, processing.

Tiona froze, then burst into action.

"Mahiro, you really like me!" she squealed, launching herself into his arms and squeezing tight.

"Don't crash into me like that..." Mahiro chuckled helplessly.

"I'm just so happy!" Tiona clung on, beaming.

"You're too shy to confess, so you made up this ritual to get Ais and me to say it first!"

"Don't worry, I've always been yours—no confession needed!"

"I'm serious here..." Mahiro said, half-laughing, half-exasperated.

Tiona's imagination was too wild.

To grant mana to those without it, the simplest method was sharing his mana via Youth Incarnation.

He hadn't expected Tiona to spin it into a romantic fantasy.
