The main mission had a lead. While there was no guarantee of finding the truth behind the apocalypse on East Extreme Island, at least there was a clear objective.
Mei wasn't in a hurry to leave; the zombies here were too valuable to waste. Before departing, she decided to do a thorough cleaning, hoping to complete one or two more upgrade tasks.
"Might as well try out my new techniques."
She spoke.
Mei hovered in the air, a telekinetic vortex forming in her hand. With a flick of her wrist, the vortex descended into the ruined city.
Whoooooosh—
A violent gust of wind roared. Dragged by the telekinetic vortex, a massive, sky-high tornado formed, sucking in countless zombies, then crushing them with telekinetic force.
[Zombies Killed: 12876]
[Zombies Killed: 13051]
[Zombies Killed: 14924]
...
For a time,
The zombie kill count updated frantically. After being pulverized by the telekinetic tornado, black flesh and gore were scattered everywhere, turning the entire ruined area a dark crimson.
It was like a human hellscape.
Mei slowly ascended, gaining a complete view of the abandoned city. She continued creating telekinetic tornadoes in each area, efficiently eliminating the zombies.
In a flash, Mei's zombie kill count surpassed 100,000, completing another upgrade task. Her internal telekinetic power surged explosively.
[Zombies Killed: 104632]
[Upgrade Task 5· Complete]
[Telekinesis Upgrade!]
[Telekinesis ·LV6!]
Whoooooosh—
Boom!
An incredibly powerful telekinetic force erupted, causing the entire city's sky to resonate. The air and light were distorted beyond recognition; the scene was incredibly awe-inspiring.
In the survivor base, survivors watched the massive black tornadoes swirling through the city, their heads tilted back towards the warped sky, their breaths held. They were terrified.
"Is this the end of the world?"
Charles, having just escaped the research building, saw the terrified survivors and realized how lucky he was. He seized the opportunity, sneaking up on the guard at the wooden bridge. After lowering the bridge, he fled the base, grabbing a crossbow and a dagger from a lucky survivor before escaping.
Thus, the area around the survivor base was free of zombies and tornadoes. Charles had successfully escaped with his life. Looking at the spectacular scene, he knew instantly it was the work of that powerful individual.
"No way. New humans can be that strong?"
With that powerhouse as a role model, Charles felt confident about his own future.
...
LV6 telekinesis didn't bring any significant new changes; it simply massively increased the power. Without exaggeration, Mei felt she could lift the entire city, perhaps even temporarily alter the local weather.
She could perceive everything within a radius of several dozen kilometers. She couldn't withstand a nuclear strike yet, but any ballistic or ranged attack would be detected the instant it entered her sensory range—making it impossible to hit her.
"Cleaning up the zombies will be a breeze."
Whoooooosh—
Like a raging sea swallowing the earth, a telekinetic wave instantly engulfed every corner of the abandoned city. With a thought from Mei, all the zombies exploded in a bloody rain.
Boom!
The entire abandoned city trembled, then fell silent. No more zombies were visible. Simultaneously, Mei's zombie kill count skyrocketed, streaks of light soaring into the air, flying from various parts of the city towards her.
[Zombies Killed: 560794]
[Equipment Acquired: Exquisite Ancient Dagger]
[Item Acquired: Torn Backpack]
[Item Acquired: Primordial Virus]
[Ability Acquired: Danger Sense]
...
Instantly eliminating hundreds of thousands of zombies, even with a low drop rate, resulted in a massive haul. Mei's gains were considerable.
Examining the acquired equipment and items, Mei realized something: monsters only dropped items consistent with the world's setting and type. They only dropped equipment, items, or abilities they possessed—perfectly logical.
There was a mountain of viruses but no spatial rings or backpacks; this world probably lacked that technology.
"A pity."
While much of the loot was useless junk, at least there was a large quantity. Mei couldn't carry it all, so she selected essential items. Regardless, upon returning to the space, she absolutely needed to buy a spatial storage item. This time it was just junk; next time it might be a treasure trove, and she'd be heartbroken to leave it behind.
A moment later,
Mei chose to wear the Exquisite Ancient Dagger at her hip, placing a sharp dagger on the other side. She carried a brand-new travel backpack filled with high-energy food.
Five glowing orbs appeared before Mei; these were abilities obtained from the zombies and zombie beasts. The five abilities were: "Danger Sense," "Brutal Bone Claws," "Sharp Fangs," "Regenerative Stomach Sac," and "Extreme Burst."
Mei immediately dismissed the three abilities that seemed unsuitable for humans, crushing the "Danger Sense" and "Extreme Burst" orbs with her hands.
Immediately,
The two orbs exploded, transforming into light that merged into Mei's body. The interface updated, showing she'd acquired the abilities.
[Abilities Acquired: Danger Sense ·LV1]
[Danger Sense ·LV1: When danger approaches, you will sense it in advance.]
——
[Abilities Acquired: Extreme Burst ·LV1]
[Extreme Burst ·LV1: Ignoring pain and injury, you can unleash your full power for ten seconds. The cost is increased injury and ten minutes of weakness afterward.]
——
These were decent abilities, but with telekinesis enhancements, Mei didn't need them much. Still, preparation was key. Mei was cautious; having extra strength was always good.
After selecting her items, Mei discarded the rest—equipment, items, and abilities vanished as if they never existed. She then shot straight into the clouds.
Boom!
A sonic boom echoed through the air. Visible water vapor compressed into a barrier, only to be instantly pierced by Mei, disappearing into the clouds at many times the speed of sound.
Every cell in Mei's body was filled with powerful telekinesis, allowing her to withstand unimaginable strain. At her current level of telekinetic power, exceeding three times the speed of sound was effortless; the limit was unknown.
The atmospheric distortion above the city vanished. The survivors looked up, seeing a clear trail in the clouds stretching towards the horizon.
...
As her telekinesis grew stronger, previously impossible applications became feasible. Mei began experimenting.
Theoretically, with sufficient temperature and pressure, she could create plasma directly from air. This plasma, reaching thousands of degrees, could instantly vaporize most materials, making it an ideal offensive weapon. Conventional weaponry would be useless against it.
The challenge lay in generating the high temperature and pressure needed for plasma formation. Mei wouldn't need complex equipment; she could do it directly.
First, she created a telekinetic vortex, then rapidly compressed the surrounding air. In moments, the air within the vortex would reach extreme pressure and temperature. Continued compression would create blinding plasma.
It sounded simple, but it wasn't easy. Mei could only do it because her telekinesis was incredibly powerful and her control was incredibly precise.
Rumble!
Dark storm clouds gathered, and Mei sped through the tempest. Lightning bolts struck her, but her telekinesis shielded her.
"Done."
She was slightly surprised; the process was faster than expected. A ball of plasma rested in her palm. Powerful telekinesis created a vacuum barrier to contain the heat, shielding the blinding light. A small, brilliant blue plasma ball formed, containing unimaginable energy.
She planned to test its power in the next ruined city.
...
The spread of the zombie virus caused the apocalypse, but as the middle-aged man in the survivor base mentioned, it was also an opportunity for human evolution.
Under normal circumstances, the success rate of a normal human being successfully enhanced after infection with the zombie virus was less than one in one hundred thousand. The middle-aged man who managed to raise that to 1% was a genius beyond compare.
Billions of people were infected. With such a large base number, a group of successfully enhanced individuals was inevitable. This group called themselves "new humans."
The zombie virus rewrites the human genome. Once successfully enhanced, certain human functions would receive permanent and significant improvements.
Controlling natural energies, however, was impossible. Humans don't have those genes; no amount of rewriting could produce such abilities.
At best, they might be able to generate electricity like an electric eel.
Outside a ruined city, a group of heavily armed personnel prepared for deployment. A muscular man in black combat gear muttered to himself.
"Electric shock? What good is that? Maybe it stuns zombies in close combat, but if I'm that close, why not use a knife?"
He was very dissatisfied with his ability. Strength or physical enhancements would have been useful, but he got this useless electric power.
"Hey, listen up! Let's review the battle plan!"
"Roger that."
The muscular man shouldered his assault rifle and joined the rest of the squad. At the front stood a middle-aged man in black combat gear, the squad leader and a powerful new human, rumored to have killed over two hundred zombies with a single knife.
Incredibly strong.
"Listen up,"
The squad leader held up a photograph—a white-haired girl in a black jacket. "This is our target. She's somewhere in this city. Find her, bring her back unharmed. Understand?"
"Understood."
"Check your equipment!"
"Let's move!"
As they moved, a squad member asked the muscular man, "This mission sounds unreliable. What do you mean, 'find her'? Where do we look?"
"What's there to fear?"
The muscular man shrugged. "Even if we run out of ammo, the squad leader can cut his way through. When the sky falls, there'll be tall trees to lean on."
"True."
Their words were barely out when a loud sonic boom echoed from the sky. A dark line plunged directly into the city's buildings.
The muscular man was surprised.
"What the hell was that?"
Boom!
The deafening explosion instantly drowned out the muscular man's voice. A visible shockwave rippled outwards, scattering the special forces squad.
The squad leader shouted, "Find cover!"
Only after the shockwave subsided did the dazed soldiers emerge, utterly confused.
"A meteorite?"
"Squad leader, do we continue the mission?"
"Continue the mission!"
After a moment's thought, the squad leader decided to proceed. While the zombies were distracted, their search would be easier.
...
In the ruined city, Mei rose from a collapsed building. Powerful telekinesis scanned the city, instantly giving her a complete picture of the situation.
"Plenty of zombies. Time to try a new technique."
She spoke.
A massive telekinetic vortex appeared in the sky. As it absorbed air, the temperature and pressure inside rapidly increased.
A brilliant blue glow appeared as high-temperature plasma swirled within the telekinetic vortex.
"Roar!"
The massive commotion attracted a horde of zombies, swarming towards Mei from all directions. A dense sea of zombies charged.
A blinding flash erupted. The high-temperature plasma within the telekinetic vortex shot out under high pressure, sweeping across like a laser. The scorching air warped and distorted, and anything that touched the plasma instantly vaporized, disappearing without a trace.
The massive horde of zombies vanished in an instant. The blue beam shot several kilometers, slicing through high-rises like a hot knife through butter.
[Zombies Killed: 564736]
The special forces hadn't taken two steps when a plasma beam zipped over their heads. The buildings in front of them collapsed, creating a spectacular, devastating scene.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Debris rained down; the ground trembled. Compared to the collapsing skyscrapers, they were insignificant, like ants.
"Retreat!"
Finally, the squad leader realized the object that had struck the city wasn't a meteorite. He frantically ordered a retreat. Buildings collapsed all around them, the deafening noise drowning out his command. The soldiers could only follow him as they desperately fled.
The muscular man, terrified, yelled in disbelief, "Are we under attack by aliens?!"
The special forces desperately retreated, while behind them, buildings continued to collapse. The entire city was crumbling.
...
Even after the destruction ceased and the plasma beams vanished, the special forces were still in shock.
They swore they'd never seen anything like it—unintelligible beams of light, buildings collapsing like dominoes. The only explanation they could conceive was an alien invasion.
New humans?
Don't be ridiculous!
No one dared to consider such an outlandish possibility.
The mission to find the white-haired girl could wait. The squad leader's priority was to understand what had happened in the abandoned city.
And what exactly was that thing that fell from the sky?!
"Deploy the drones!"
"Huh?"
The still-dazed soldiers reacted, opening their cases and launching drones, which scattered to search the city.
Mei surveyed her handiwork, highly satisfied. The plasma beam's power matched her expectations; the destructive capability was slightly lacking, but far more powerful than pure telekinetic destruction.
The appetizer was over; now for the main course. She slowly ascended, her immense telekinesis enveloping the entire city.
Whoooooosh—
An invisible wave passed, instantly disabling all the drones in the air. With a thought from Mei, the city trembled.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
All zombies and zombie beasts in the city exploded in a rain of blood. A thick crimson mist of blood hung over the ruins, lingering for a long time.
Instantly,
Mei's zombie kill count skyrocketed, streaks of light flying in from all directions, dropping equipment, items, and abilities for Mei to choose.
[Zombies Killed: 847924]
[Item Acquired: Zombie Virus Antidote]
[Equipment Acquired: Durable Climbing Hook]
[Ability Acquired: Night Vision]
There weren't many good items, but Mei chose "Night Vision" and kept the Zombie Virus Antidote; it might be useful later.
[Abilities Acquired: Night Vision ·LV1]
[Night Vision ·LV1: Darkness will no longer impede your sight.]
...
"..."
"..."
Deathly silence.
The special forces soldiers stared in disbelief at the figure in the sky. The squad leader held up binoculars, but could only see a distorted humanoid shape.
The telekinesis warped the light so severely they could only tell it was a person; nothing else was visible.
The muscular man swallowed hard, his pupils constricting. He wished he were dreaming. "Do you think that's an alien or a new human?"
At that moment, the squad leader's expression changed.
"It seems like… it's looking at us?"
It wasn't just looking; the next moment, the special forces were lifted into the air and pulled before Mei.
The sheer power of the telekinesis even connected nearby buildings in mid-air, swirling around the soldiers.
Oh my god!
The muscular man felt his body trembling uncontrollably. Under this power, even if Mei claimed to be a god, he would believe it.
Mid-air, a gale howled, building debris swirling around them. When Mei spoke, the telekinetic vibrations in the air altered her voice.
"Who are you?"
The squad leader, without hesitation, told the truth, showing no defiance or intention to hide anything. "We are the Second Special Forces Action Unit from East Extreme Island. We were tasked with retrieving a surviving girl from this abandoned city."
East Extreme Island?
Maintaining such a force capable of traveling such a distance in the apocalypse meant they possessed significant military might.
They could even be connected to the mastermind behind the apocalypse, though that was just speculation. Other survivor bases with similar capabilities likely existed; the mastermind wasn't necessarily on East Extreme Island.
Mei, already planning to go to East Extreme Island, had encountered them en route – good fortune. While questioning them, the swirling telekinesis around Mei intimidated the squad leader and his men.
Uninterested in why East Extreme Island wanted the girl, Mei asked directly, "Tell me everything you know about the spread of the zombie virus and the cause of the apocalypse."
The squad leader nervously swallowed, answering formally, "I only know that East Extreme Island was fully prepared before the virus outbreak. I know nothing else."
"Enough."
That was enough. It suggested East Extreme Island might have known about the outbreak in advance, hence their preparedness.
Whether or not it was true, a visit would reveal the answer. Mei felt she was getting closer to the truth.
"Which direction is East Extreme Island?"
The squad leader produced a tactical tablet, pointing east. "According to satellite guidance, it's five hundred kilometers from here."
"With satellite guidance, this will be easy. Come with me."
"Huh?"
The squad leader was confused. Wasn't his mission over?
Then,
The floating building debris rapidly descended, crashing into the ruined city. Amidst the rubble, a white-haired girl looked up at Mei.
East Extreme Island sought her out because she was the first new human to exhibit complete enhancement, even displaying telekinetic abilities—making her invaluable for research.
Even the survivors in the ruins worshipped her as a god. Now, she seemed to have encountered a true deity.
Rumble!
Falling buildings shook the earth. The white-haired girl stood amidst the ruins.
Her gaze was fervent, her hopelessness replaced by a newfound meaning in life. "This… this is a true god!"
Boom!
A sonic boom echoed through the air. Mei, with the squad leader, instantly vanished into the clouds. The special forces soldiers landed safely, still feeling like they were dreaming.
Exchanging bewildered glances, they knew East Extreme Island was about to face a major event.
"Quick, contact headquarters!"
Whether they contacted headquarters or not was ultimately irrelevant. Mei was already speeding towards East Extreme Island at five times the speed of sound. Five hundred kilometers seemed a long distance on a map, but it took her less than a minute.
What could East Extreme Island do in a minute?
They probably wouldn't even react in time.
Mei had originally planned to clear the zombies from the cities along the way, but plans changed. East Extreme Island would be dealt with first.
In fact, there wasn't even time to fully report the emergency; the special forces members didn't know how to relay what had happened.
How to explain it?
That a seemingly real new human could instantly obliterate a city and was heading for East Extreme Island? Would headquarters believe it?
Regardless of whether they would or not, the special forces relayed the report.
Boom!
A clear path was torn through the clouds, the parted clouds slowly drifting to the sides. The squad leader felt this was probably the most extraordinary experience of his life.
She were approaching East Extreme Island at five times the speed of sound, or even faster. The location blips on the tactical tablet's satellite map were flashing further and further away.
Furthermore,
Mei's speed was still increasing.
...
East Extreme Island.
The familiar apocalyptic landscape was almost unbelievable to any newcomer. Towering skyscrapers and bustling traffic—a modern metropolis seemingly untouched by the apocalypse.
The island was surrounded by a five-meter-high iron wall, sufficient to deter any seaborne zombies. Cameras were strategically placed along the wall, providing complete surveillance. Beyond the wall was a wide buffer zone, followed by well-armed defenses.
East Extreme Island possessed a complete industrial network, producing everything from food to military equipment. Despite the circumstances, over ten million people lived there!
East Extreme Island wasn't a nation but a highly organized mega-corporation or conglomerate. There was no king, president, or leader—only a board of directors.
The large board, composed of more than a dozen members from various fields, were leaders and elites. Their presence ensured the smooth operation and survival of East Extreme Island.
In the headquarters building, the board members were holding a meeting when a frantic subordinate burst in, interrupting the meeting with an urgent report from the special forces.
The muscular man's voice echoed through the room.
"Board members, there's no time for pleasantries. A powerful new human is heading for East Extreme Island. We must prepare for battle!"
The chairman, seated at the head of the boardroom table, frowned. "Report clearly. What do you mean, 'seemingly real new human'? It's just a new human; does this warrant such an urgent report?"
Bang!
At that moment,
An officer stormed into the room, the door slamming against the wall. The officer reported urgently, "Chairman, radar has detected a supersonic object approaching East Extreme Island!"
"That's her!"
The muscular man roared, alerting the board. "It's not a missile or anything! It's the new human! She's flying towards us, and the squad leader's tracker is right beside her!"
...
East Extreme Island Defense Headquarters.
"Minister, we can't wait for the board's response! The target is approaching East Extreme Island!"
"Don't wait, shoot it down!"
"Yes sir!"
The minister gave the order decisively.
Immediately,
Ready-to-launch missiles ignited, soaring into the sky. Blazing orange flames and white smoke pierced the heavens, targeting the object on the radar.
However,
Before they could even reach the target, all the missiles were inexplicably destroyed dozens of kilometers away. The defense force could only watch helplessly as the object breached their air defenses, plunging into East Extreme Island. Only after the object appeared within visual range and stopped did the defense personnel realize it wasn't a supersonic missile, but a person—or rather, two people.
"Human?"
The minister thought he was seeing things. Watching the footage on the monitor, he couldn't believe it. Those two people had just flown at hypersonic speeds?
What in the world?!
Mei slowly descended, landing above the headquarters building. The squad leader felt dazed, as if his soul hadn't yet caught up with his body.
"This welcoming ceremony is quite… lively."
Mei casually lifted her hand, uprooting the entire headquarters building, along with several dozen underground levels, lifting it into the air.
The squad leader wasn't surprised; he'd witnessed far grander scenes. Such minor events couldn't shake his nerves anymore.
The board was completely bewildered. Before they could fully process the special forces report, Mei had already taken their headquarters.
The islanders, witnessing this monumental event for the first time, were in complete chaos. Mei, sensing this, noted that the glass of a certain floor in the headquarters had shattered. Over a dozen board members were suspended mid-air, screaming in terror. Mei gave them time to compose themselves.
Only then did she speak.
"I initially intended a more polite introduction, but I believe demonstrating my capabilities first will make the following discussion much smoother."
The chairman, having seen his share of turbulent events, was initially shocked but quickly composed himself. "What do you want?"
"Simple."
Mei got straight to the point. "Tell me the truth about the apocalypse and the zombie virus."
"Fine."
The chairman readily agreed. The truth differed slightly from Mei's assumptions; the upper echelons of East Extreme Island did know the truth, but weren't the direct cause or masterminds.
The five-year main mission had only just begun, yet Mei had already progressed significantly thanks to her overwhelming power. Thanks to the board's confession, she finally learned the truth.
Twenty years ago, an extraterrestrial meteorite landed on the planet. Research revealed it contained a unique substance.
This substance could enhance human physical functions, even granting telekinetic abilities—a major discovery.
To research and develop this substance, major global corporations formed a scientific research consortium; some of East Extreme Island's upper echelons were members.
This substance was the root cause of everything. While capable of enhancing the human body, it was highly unstable, causing unpredictable mutations.
"This is the substance."
A vial of yellow liquid was displayed on a screen. The chairman produced sealed documents and data for Mei, recounting the events.
"Regardless, research continued—from animal testing to human volunteers. The problems arose at this stage."
The special substance caused unpredictable genetic mutations, a significant hurdle for researchers. They hadn't anticipated the catastrophic consequences.
The researchers were cautious; without resolving the genetic mutation issue, human trials couldn't proceed. But with research stalled, funding dried up as investors withdrew, forcing the researchers to become increasingly radical.
"We had to produce results to prove the research's worth."
Animal testing proceeded smoothly, with no unexpected mutations, until human trials began, and the apocalypse arrived.
The special substance rapidly altered the test subjects' genomes; within ten seconds, the subjects lost control.
Unforeseen mutations occurred, transforming the subjects into mindless monsters with enhanced physical capabilities—the first zombies on the planet.
Within an hour, the entire research facility was overrun. Hundreds of researchers became rage-filled zombies; only a few escaped.
The chairman explained, "Fortunately, we were prepared. We sealed the facility, containing the zombies, including the initial mutated subject."
The virus couldn't spread through the air; transmission required blood or wounds—a stroke of luck.
Soldiers were swiftly deployed to eliminate the zombies. Faced with firearms, the zombies were easily defeated and quickly eradicated.
There was one problem.
The first mutated subject vanished. They compared every zombie corpse, searching every corner of the facility, but couldn't find it. The remaining special substance had also disappeared without a trace.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, nations frantically searched for the first mutated subject while constructing apocalypse bases. The chairman led the effort to build East Extreme Island.
Fifteen years after the first mutated subject disappeared, the zombie virus erupted globally, catching humanity completely off guard.
Many apocalypse bases under construction were destroyed by internal outbreaks before they could be completed; East Extreme Island was fortunate to survive.
Against zombies, conventional firearms were effective, but the virus's initial secrecy was so high that it overwhelmed the world's response.
"This is the first mutated subject."
The screen showed a handsome young man with terrifyingly pale skin and striking short white hair, his red eyes particularly noticeable. He was an albino, which accounted for his unique appearance.
Whether it was coincidence or not, the completely enhanced girl also exhibited white hair and red eyes.
"That's the whole truth. We can confirm the outbreak and spread were the work of the first mutated subject. What else do you need? Just ask, and we will do our best to comply."
Discretion is the better part of valor.
After witnessing Mei's power, the board members were extremely cooperative. It wasn't a matter of cooperation, but of survival.
Mei fell silent for a moment, causing the board members to tense up.
The cause of the apocalypse was found; the special substance was likely on the first mutated subject. Finding him would complete the main mission.
"Rest assured, I have no interest in East Extreme Island. I'm not here for destruction. Just give me a tactical tablet; I'll search the world for him. Inform me if you have any news."
"No problem."
Satellite guidance was far superior to tourist maps. Mei planned to start near East Extreme Island, clearing cities along the way to level up.
It depended on the first mutated subject's luck; he might encounter Mei at any moment. Mei, with the satellite guidance, left, leaving the board members staring at each other.
Soon, Mei, guided by satellite imagery, landed on the continent, reaching a ruined city. Without hesitation, she unleashed her telekinesis.
Boom!
The entire ruined city trembled. Hundreds of thousands of zombies exploded into a bloody mist, covering the ruins as Mei's zombie kill count soared.
[Zombies Killed: 1129364]
1.12 Million!
The zombie kill count surpassed one million!
[Upgrade Task 6· Complete]
[Telekinesis Upgrade!]
[Telekinesis ·LV7!]
Boom!
Immense, invisible telekinesis shook the heavens and the earth. The power and quality of the upgraded telekinesis were terrifying; the white clouds in the sky were instantly dispersed.
The dissipating telekinesis pressed down like a collapsing sky; the ground beneath slowly sank until it could no longer withstand the pressure, cracking into massive fissures.
A moment later,
All fell silent. The telekinesis receded into Mei's body, leaving only scars on the earth and sky as evidence of the event.
Mei couldn't describe the power; she could sense everything within a two-hundred-kilometer radius. Nothing on this planet could withstand such force.
If she chose, she could lift the bedrock within that radius into outer space. Her power was unbelievably excessive.
Such power was, naturally, virtually indestructible. With her telekinesis active, no attack could threaten Mei.
Streams of light appeared, hovering before Mei. These were the equipment, items, and abilities dropped by the slain zombies.
[Equipment Acquired: Custom Longsword]
[Item Acquired: Hourglass]
[Ability Acquired: Extensible Tongue]
After careful consideration, Mei discarded the ancient dagger at her hip, replacing it with the custom longsword; this one seemed sharper and more durable.
——
[Item: Custom Longsword]
[Description: A masterpiece of top-tier materials and forging techniques; possesses unparalleled sharpness and durability.]
——
Mei discarded the rest of the junk.
And so,
Mei began frantically clearing out the zombies in each abandoned city. She was driven to continue upgrading her telekinesis.
Upgrade task 6 required killing one million zombies; task 7 required ten million. An average abandoned city held 200,000 zombies. Mei needed to clear roughly 50 abandoned cities to complete task 7.
With her current stamina and mental fortitude, 50 cities were trivial; she could complete them in a single day, her efficiency incredibly extreme.
[Zombies Killed: 1.2 Million]
[Zombies Killed: 1.38 Million]
[Zombies Killed: 1.62 Million]
...
[Zombies Killed: 3.74 Million]
The numbers updated wildly.
While clearing zombies, Mei acquired countless pieces of equipment, items, and abilities. Most of the world's equipment and items were useless, but the abilities evolved from the mutated zombie genes were quite good. After careful selection, she found a particularly useful one.
