Third person POV
Laurel notices his dilemma and decides to interrupt the interview. "It's okay, Roxas-kun, you may say that you do know some basic knowledge because…"
"Because what?" Roxas looked at him.
"I am your older brother in your previous life." Laurel smiled.
This shocks the boy to his heart, like an arrow being fired towards it. "What?! Kuya?! You died as well?"
Laurel nodded. "Yes, it's your kuya, Ezekiel. In this life, I am now known as Laurel Sakiyama."
Because of that revelation, Roxas shed some tears of sadness. "I…I don't know what to say, Laurel-san, or I mean, kuya, but…"
Before Roxas could continue, Laurel stood from his chair and walked to him to hug him. "It's okay, Roxas, I am here for you, even in this life."
Roxas was moved by his words and hugged him back. "Kuya!"
He then began to cry like a child.
"There, there, Roxas," Laurel said to him while patting his back, "I am right here. Just let it out."
Roxas continued to cry on his shoulder for a few more minutes before Laurel pulled back from hugging and resuming the job interview. In this way, they would have some time to reminisce on memories from their previous life after that.
"Yes, I do know some basic knowledge of being a journalist back in my previous life," Roxas continued the interview with positive confidence, "stuff like gathering information and making statements on them, and also, make them bias-free as possible with other agreeing sources."
"Okay, very good." Laurel nodded approvingly. "Lastly, what is your character? I know what it was."
"I am a nice, empathetic, and justice-seeking person. I am the type who loves true justice and will do anything for anyone who is being mistreated."
"Wow, very, very good. Well, that was it."
"Did I pass?"
"Yes, you're an absolutely good fit for an undercover journalist."
Roxas couldn't believe what he was saying; his effort had paid off very well. So, he stood up and bowed deeply and quickly. "Thank you so much! I'll do my best!"
"You're welcome, brother. I'm glad to help you. You're hired."
"Wait, is it too weird to call me brother?"
"No, not at all. Our brotherly bond will persist even in this life."
Later, Laurel made arrangements for Roxas' salary and working times as a part-time undercover journalist, as well as what tasks he would be given. Roxas will be assigned to critical topics like racial inequality and injustices in society, on his first day, and he accepted it without a second thought. He also filled out his resume using the details he got from that little interview. Furthermore, he explained to him that the goddess of reincarnation had given him abilities, which also included Shadow Master, and set up his company based on his wishes from his previous life. Roxas was stunned but was grateful to the goddess for giving Laurel such great things and making his wishes come true in this life. And so, Roxas was hired.
After that little interview, he and Laurel began to talk and reminisce about their shared previous life, from good times to bad times, up to hardships they and their parents and relatives had endured prior to their deaths. Later on, they went to a café on the first floor to have some coffee and snacks while continuing their reminiscence of old past life memories. They both had iced coffees and for snacks, they had a plate of French fries and chocolate chip cookies on two separate plates. As they reminisce, their connection is getting reestablished and restored back to its former glory.
