It was almost 4 AM when Julian arrived at the home he shared with Maximillian for almost two months.
Burning with a mixture of humiliation and fury, the omega had half a thought of packing all his belongings and moving out within the day.
And yet, before he could swipe the door open, Eugene burst out like a whirlwind of energy and locked his arms around Julian's legs, sending him sprawling backward. Arms flailing, Julian barely managed to break his fall with a graceless thud.
"Madam, you finally return! Sob, sob, sob, Eugene is so worried!" Julian's half-baked resolution melted away like ice thawing under the sun when he saw the fake tears running across Eugene's face.
Eugene was supposed to remain in his charging station between 10 PM and 5 AM, but even programmed protocols couldn't quell his worry. His master teetered between life and death, and the madam, abandoning his sleep, had left the house in the middle of the night to be by his side.
