This "Shocking" condition—could also be understood as a "blackout" state, a very powerful means of control. It was roughly equivalent to "Deep Sleep," allowing the target's will attribute to temporarily drop to zero, losing the ability to attack and cast spells, yet it was easier to achieve than knocking someone unconscious.
