"So where did you hide them?" Rhys asked conversationally as they moved up the staircase. Kellen sighed. He just had a feeling that once he told him, nothing would be secret anymore. He squeezed Rhys' hand, his own emotions racing, his pulse was probably pounding.
"Uh, well, I had a few shoe boxes. That's what I usually use for storage." Kellen hoped that the way he said that made it seem like he didn't hide things in the shoe boxes, and instead just stored things in them. He didn't think it would get past Rhys, who was well versed in Kellen mannerisms now, but he could hope.
His parents had believed him. His shoe boxes had been safe up until this point. He should trust in the fact that they had lasted this long. They should continue to last.
They got to the top of the stairs rather quickly, too quickly. Kellen wasn't ready to come face to face with his little secret. He didn't feel like it was a bad thing, but that didn't mean that he wanted to explain himself.
