Ning Xia stared at him intently for a moment, the corners of her lips curling up into a smile as she seemed to finally recognize John Hill, her body leaning back softly.
Her blurry eyes radiated pain as she suddenly spoke, "You've never truly loved someone, have you, Big Trouble?"
"..." John Hill's brows knitted lightly, but he said nothing.
"Am I right?" Ning Xia tilted her head, still smiling, "Because you've never loved, that's why you can stand and talk with no back pain."
"Don't understand this Chinese saying? It means without feeling the pain for oneself, one can't comprehend how truly painful it is!"
Emotions are irrational.
They don't fade just because you understand them, and dignity doesn't keep you from feeling hurt.
If you can maintain your sanity and dignity after a relationship has ended, it only proves one of two things: either you never loved deeply, or you really don't love anymore.
