Beside him, Galene knelt, carefully sifting through the dirt with her fingers. "Home..." she murmured as she rose, looking out at the clear yard of grass littered with the ruins of destroyed houses.
"A hundred years of living there, huh..." Dakrea said, his voice heavy with nostalgia.
Dakrea's gaze lingered on the desolation before them, memories flooding back of laughter and camaraderie shared in those very ruins. "It feels like a lifetime ago," he continued, a bittersweet smile touching his lips. "We fought hard to protect it, and now... it's just echoes of what once was."
Galene looked up at him. "Yeah, but we must stay hidden now and try not to attract humans who want to... kill us."
Dakrea nodded, determination flashing in his eyes. "Let's search for the meteor fragments again."
