Barty's fists clenched, his face contorting in fury. "Who are you? What have you done?"
The man leaned back with a mocking laugh. "I'm merely an instrument of justice. Justice for your betrayal, Barty. You, a hero, a citizen of Laury Kingdom, bowing to Alexander's influence? Serving under him?" He shook his head, feigning disappointment. "It's almost a joke."
Barty's voice was a growl, his knuckles white. "Alex isn't just a leader. He's done more for this world than you or any twisted coward hiding in the shadows. But that doesn't explain why you've slaughtered innocent people."
"Innocent?" The man scoffed, standing up slowly and walking closer, each step deliberate. "Innocence is a luxury for the loyal. They knew where you stood, Barty. They chose to stand with you, a traitor to your own kingdom. And that makes them no better."
Barty's jaw tightened, anger flaring through his grief. "You'll pay for this. I'll make sure of it."
