Seeing the state of Alex, Sylas knew that there was no way he had come here on purpose. In that case… was it his Luck acting up again? But why would his Luck think he needed this?
Sylas ignored Alex for a moment, looking back toward Jala. The latter was still standing there stiffly, not turning as though he hoped that would make it so that Sylas couldn't see him at all.
Was it because a dead man was somehow walking? But that was impossible too. He had even taken Jala's destiny — he had to be dead. How could he be anything other than dead? It didn't make any sense.
Sylas' hand suddenly shot out like lightning and Alex's reaction was quick. He faded to black, appearing ten meters away… only for his neck to be snatched up anyway.
