The hive trembled as it seemed to try one last-ditch effort to save itself. But it was far too late.
The world fell into silence as the lance disappeared into the queen hornet's body, splitting its defenses so seamlessly it almost looked as though it had done nothing at all—until eruptions of emerald lightning turned it into a pincushion.
The queen hornet was shattered from the inside out, its Will collapsing first, leaving its eyes vacant. And then its body followed, everything shattering to pieces as though it had never had a Constitution that high to begin with.
