Chapter 11 - 5. A 'Monster' or a 'God'

Anorax stood in silence. His body was drenched in blood. His clothes in tatters. Dreadful wounds covered his body. But the **grip** on his sword never lessened. It was his only companion.

He fell. Rose. Swung relentlessly without backing down. If he fell now, what was the point of fighting from the start?

Away from him, a monster woman sat on a throne. Snakes hissed venomously on her head. She licked her lips seductively as she eyed him.

Her big perky breasts were left for the **world** to see. She had no clothes on. Waist downward was a big snake tail.

"Your blood smells **too** tasty, human... no, **you're** not... what **are you**, boy?"

"Don't worry, I won't bite. You can call me... Medusa."

Medusa said as she slithered toward him. She stopped a few meters away.

"Fight and we get this done with. **I've** been patient enough," he said in irritation at her taunts.

"How abou—"

*Boom!*

A golden beam descended where she had been.

"Oh my~ You want me that bad."

A black **whip** appeared in her hand. It twisted as if it had a life.

He attacked. **They** moved at insane speeds till they **blurred**. The Labyrinth shook violently**.** Their power was spiraling out of control.

The **whip** sparked with every contact. He slashed out expertly, seeking an opening, but it was as if she could predict his every move. She blocked and countered furiously.

Lightning engulfed his form. His speed skyrocketed. He flashed. He slashed with renewed vigor.

*It's as if she's adjusting to my strength to tire me out. But why?

I see she is far stronger than she appeared.*

"Why are you here, Medusa?" he asked. It made no sense.

"Everything makes no sense. Monsters with the ability to transform are way too powerful **for** your showing. I can't last even a second against them currently." He stopped fighting the moment he figured she harbored no ill intentions.

She never attacked with the will to kill.

"Bingo~ **Now** you realize that, huh. Well, I won't blame you for that~" she said in a sultry voice like a devil's whisper.

[She's a God.]

"What?"

His eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. He wanted to scream his lungs out, but he couldn't.

His gaze shifted to the snakes on her head. They all had eyes fixed on him.

He looked into her eyes, which were split into golden slits.

His love for treasures today had thrown him into deep shit. He couldn't help but curse.

"**I'm** fucked up really bad today."

"Well, you really are, dear~ Though I don't understand what you mean by that."

His lips twisted in irritation. Was she pretending or mocking him?

"Well, it's been countless years **since** I've been here on Urax. Mortals never fail to amaze me. They fear the 'unknown' too much that they want to control everything." She smiled. "Not knowing there are things which can't be controlled."

"But **you're** not of any race I know... what are you?"

She squinted her eyes at him, narrowing them into slits.

"Well, I don't know for sure **what I am**. I don't know others like me, sorry," he said tiredly.

The previous battles started weighing down **on** him.

Medusa waved her hand. A burst of divine energy enveloped him.

He felt rejuvenated. He was no fool—the moment he set foot here, he sensed immense divine energy in the space.

This was her abode, which proved she was the source of the divine energy. He was 'fated' to lose here.

"You know about Gods in general, right~"

He nodded.

"Currently, before you, **I'm** one, though not 'linked' to this world. **I'm** a free God."

He already knew that, so he wasn't surprised.

But...

"Also, this is not my true body. You can call **this** my avatar. My real body is that of a 'True' God."

"What?"

[What?]

To say they were shocked would be an understatement—they were completely devastated.

He silently found a place to sit, his back against the wall.

But...

Medusa had appeared on her throne with him in her arms. He was leaning against something too soft and spongy.

She smiled kindly. She harbored no ill intentions toward him. She was a ruthless woman who killed without hesitation, but today was different.

'We're running out of time. This place is about to collapse. His power far exceeds his realm of existence.'

She stretched her palm forward. Divine energy gathered in her palm from her realm. She compressed the golden energy. A golden crystal formed.

Anorax eyed the golden crystal in wonder. This was pure divine energy. He had suffered to get a pure Mana crystal, but his luck today was both shitty and fruitful.

"Your body has absorbed divine energy and used it to heal you, which is strange. **You're** not an Ascender nor a God." She pushed it toward him.

"Hurry up **and** breakthrough. The place is about to collapse."

Still in her arms, his royal purple eyes looked at her silently. He closed his eyes and focused.

His body gave off a soft golden light at first. A few minutes later, it grew **intensely**. His body shone with such intensity that the light seeped out of the Labyrinth.

"Mommy, what's that?"

"Why is it warm?"

"It's so pure."

Everyone outside had varying reactions to the ethereal light.

It could be seen everywhere in Dragnart City.

A powerful beam of divine light pierced through the sky and shot through the void.

A heavy suppression leaked. Every being unconsciously bowed. The weak-willed ones immediately fell to their knees and worshipped.

XEPHILA VONIAC ACADEMY

"Hmm?"

The Principal's eyes immediately shot in a specific direction. She knew this feeling too well—though a bit different and far weaker.

☆☆☆

As swiftly as it appeared, Medusa 'warped' her realm and disappeared. She erased her traces.

They appeared on an inhabitable planet far from Urax.

Anorax was forming a core. Instead of a normal mana core, he was forming something far superior for his realm—something only those who exceeded the mortal realm possessed.

"A divine core," she muttered.

Since his 'strange' breakthrough, she never left him.

It was now that she realized something. Her hands moved to her skin. It peeled off. This shocked her—her skin was nearly indestructible.

She peeled it off. What she saw struck her to the core.

Her skin had turned golden, mirroring her true form slightly. This was truly unbelievable.

"Hahaha...~"

She laughed like a maniac, her voice seductive yet dangerous. Her bare breasts **jiggled**. The planet shook slightly. Her presence overwhelmed the small world.

*Snap.*

She **snapped** her fingers, and the skin peeled away. Her new skin gleamed golden—a perfection of her former self.

As the divine core stabilized, his eyes flickered. He felt the softness against his back.

"You caused **quite** a commotion~"

☆☆☆

Back at the collapsed Labyrinth, several authorities spread out. The commotion was too eye-catching—other empires mobilized.

An old woman hidden in a separate space stared at the collapsed ground.

Her frustration grew. Every time she felt 'that' feeling, she arrived seconds late. For beings at their level, it was too long.

"Seems I won't find anything until it's my time to know."

"**Soon**."

She disappeared.

They found mountains of cleaved monsters underground—numbered in thousands. The city descended into silence. All this had happened in hours.

They couldn't identify who managed such a feat. It was called the 'Crimson Night.'

Others called it 'God's Descent.'

☆☆☆

Anorax walked as he thought about what Medusa told him.

"Is there any water source nearby?" he asked bitterly. He had been walking aimlessly.

*Snap.*

They appeared in the sky. Below, a mesmerizing blue lake spread as far as the eye could see.

They dropped inside. He couldn't help but spread his arms. He felt 'alive' again.

He washed the blood and dirt off his body.

"You said something about your true body. Where is it?"

Medusa's golden slits fixed on him. She flashed a seductive smile. Being a Goddess, it would be a lie to say he wasn't bewitched by her beauty.

Her new appearance was nothing to scoff at—glittering skin with golden scales, **no longer** snakes but very long black hair.

"Well, it's in a realm far superior—the God Realm. One day you'll visit it. I'll make sure of it. And oh~ We share the same consciousness. **I'm** the same me, always~"
