After a moment, Four-eyes forcefully threw away the weight pressing on his heart, and he defended everything he believed in:
"It was all for the country, everything we did…"
But contrary to what he had expected, Daemon looked at calmly, and replied in an even tone that carried no fluctuation:
"I know."
Four-eyes was shocked, and his eyes widened:
"You!!"
Daemon simply looked at him:
"As you said, it was for the country. I was just a soldier, and I have always obeyed orders."
Four-eyes' felt his heart sink ever so slightly, as he forced himself to find an explanation, a pillar to prop up his convictions:
"But your teammates–"
Despite his calm not leaving him, the look in Daemon's eyes deepened as his gaze brought a weighty chill as it bore down on Four-eyes. His voice deepened as it rang:
