By the time Kara returned to Wayne Manor with the elderly Bruce Wayne, the war had already come to an end.
After Hippolyta decapitated Steppenwolf, the loss of the highest combat power left the remaining parademons with little ability to cause any significant trouble.
Though they were numerous and their individual combat abilities were stronger than those of the special forces, they still didn't pose much of a threat against superheroes with extraordinary powers.
Especially after Pietro and Ashley joined the battle, the tide turned decisively in their favor.
Against the Speedster, who wielded a vibranium arm, the parademons' laser weapons couldn't even scratch Pietro. Each laser was easily absorbed by Pietro's arm.
And when Pietro used his fingers like a sword, redirecting the vibrations absorbed by his vibranium arm, not a single parademon could withstand the attack.
Each time the silver light flashed, several parademons were shot in the head, with no exceptions.
As for Ashley, it was even simpler. She didn't hesitate to face off with the paradooms in a test of strength, and with the ordinary ones, she showed no mercy. In a blur of motion, each parademon was trapped in her spider webs like flies.
Although this was the first time both sides had met, their teamwork was seamless. Not long after, the parademons were all eradicated.
At this point, Kara had returned with Bruce Wayne, and she also brought back the two Mother Boxes that had been taken.
Kara wasn't sure what these items did, but Doctor Fate knew, and at his suggestion, Kara didn't ask more questions. Instead, she simply used brute force to tear the Mother Boxes off the stone monument.
Before leaving, she also used her heat vision to completely destroy the stone monument.
"Doctor, contact a doctor! Batman is injured!"
The war had just ended, and everyone was mentally and physically exhausted. But at Doctor Fate's shout, everyone's attention snapped back.
From the start of the battle, Batman had not appeared. Although the heroes didn't know where he had gone, they didn't think much of it.
After all, Batman was nearly seventy years old now. No one would force him into battle if he chose not to participate. He had fought for most of his life, and it was understandable for him to want to rest.
However, no one expected Batman to join the fight. In fact, he had used the chaos of Steppenwolf's assault on Wayne Manor to execute a home-field advantage strategy and directly went to Steppenwolf's base.
Now, seeing Batman gravely injured, the heroes couldn't stay still. They immediately rushed to his side.
"It's fine. Go clean up the battlefield. Don't crowd here. This guy needs rest and treatment."
Tony Stark was the first to speak up. He waved at the others, then turned his attention to Kara.
"Kara, take Batman to the Batcave. I remember there should be medical equipment there. I'll use magic to stabilize his condition. Pietro, go find a doctor, someone more professional."
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone froze.
The atmosphere became tense and quiet as everyone stared at Tony Stark, who had just given orders.
Seeing their reaction, Tony Stark couldn't hold back his frustration. He rolled his eyes and said, "Move! Are you guys going to waste time here?"
Kara was the first to react. She nodded slightly, then without saying another word, she lifted Bruce Wayne and headed straight for the Batcave. She remembered the entrance to the Batcave.
Nearby, the Hourman also snapped out of it. He addressed the others.
"Do what he said. Move quickly, Wildcat, take Black Adam and Shazam to block the reporters and the military. This event is too big to hide."
Afterward, the Hourman turned to Tony Stark and extended his hand.
"I'm the leader of the Justice Society, Hourman, Rex Tyler. Thanks for your help. You must be the leader of this team, right?"
"Core Fusion Technology and Black Magic Consultant for the Overseers, Tony Stark." Stark responded, shaking Rex's hand. However, he blinked and added, "By the way, I'm not the leader. The leader is the Terminator behind you."
Though Tony Stark often acted flippant and liked to give orders, he wasn't interested in fighting for a title that had already been established.
Pietro, who had been singled out by Tony Stark to check on Bruce Wayne's condition, glanced at his steel arm, then gave Tony Stark a helpless glare.
Hearing Tony's words, Rex quickly turned around and looked at Pietro, who didn't seem to fit the "leader" role at all. "I haven't been introduced yet."
"Uh, just call me Pietro," Pietro responded casually. He found the exchanges between team leaders a bit too formal, which made him feel pressured. He turned to Tony Stark.
"You want me to find a doctor? I'm not that familiar with the situation here."
"Doctor Mid-Nite, go check on Bruce's condition," Rex said quickly, addressing Doctor Mid-Nite, one of the members of the Justice Society. Doctor Mid-Nite was not only a hero but also skilled in medicine.
Without Rex saying anything, Doctor Mid-Nite was already preparing to follow Kara to the Batcave. He was also very concerned about his old friend, Batman's condition.
Rex watched Doctor Mid-Nite's departing figure, then shifted his gaze to Pietro. "Mr. Pietro, once again, thank you for your help. But I'd like to know, who exactly are you?"
Pietro sighed and couldn't help but glance at Tony Stark. However, Tony, noticing the look in Pietro's eyes, acted as if he didn't see it, turning and heading toward the Batcave instead.
As he walked, Tony mumbled, "I remember Alex said there was a lot of good wine stored here. Jarvis, scan the entire building structure for me."
Meanwhile, Rex continued speaking.
"I've heard some things about Bruce Wayne's past. I remember, during the Kryptonian invasion of Earth, several soldiers claimed that in addition to Batman and The Flash, they also saw a flying woman, a silver-haired youth, and a man dressed in black.
I asked Bruce about it, but he kept quiet, and he never gave any indication that he was willing to reveal anything. Seeing his resistance, I didn't press further. Now, I want to confirm: The people the soldiers spoke of—should they be your team?"
Pietro pursed his lips. While he had gone through various universes with Alex, he wasn't great at handling social situations like this.
But he didn't want these people to underestimate him, so he closed his eyes and quickly went through Alex's mannerisms and way of speaking in his mind.
Whether it was escaping the Ruins Universe with himself or learning life lessons in the Wasteland Universe, along with the planning of various strategies.
When Pietro opened his eyes again, his heart had calmed down considerably, and the tension he had been feeling had dissipated without him even noticing.
Staring at Rex, Pietro spoke in a deep voice, "You guessed correctly. I was involved in that battle, but I don't think this is the right time to talk about it."
"But..."
Rex was about to say something when Pietro gently interrupted him.
"We should be cleaning up the battlefield, shouldn't we? You don't want the Kryptonian shipwreck and technology loss to happen again, right? The situation we're facing now is even more complicated. If I were you, I'd be preparing for a press conference right now."
With that, Pietro didn't wait for Rex's response and turned, leading Ashley away.
Watching Pietro and the unfamiliar young woman leave, Rex opened his mouth but couldn't bring himself to say anything.
After a pause, he sighed and turned to gather Green Lantern and the others to begin cleaning up the battlefield.
He had to admit, the young man was right. The bodies of these parademons and their weapons couldn't fall into the hands of the wrong people.
Earth was already being watched by a much higher-level civilization, and they didn't have time to worry about anything else. If more problems arose internally, it would be disastrous. Meanwhile, Ashley, walking alongside Pietro toward Wayne Manor, gently nudged his arm after a while when there was no one around.
"You were really cool just now."
"Well, who told me I have a good teacher?" Pietro smiled slightly and continued, "This mission is serious. We can't let the people of this world look down on us. Got it?"
"Don't worry, I've got it covered," Ashley said confidently.
After a brief pause, she frowned, as if thinking of something. "Pietro, do you think we should tell Alex about what happened here?"
At this, Pietro fell silent.
It was obvious that the events in this universe had gone beyond the norm.
Unlike anything they had faced before, Darkseid was no small threat.
The scars from the Apokolips War still lingered in the minds of those in the Wasteland Universe, and even the heroes of the Justice League avoided discussing their past experiences.
This showed just how deeply Darkseid had affected them, which also confirmed how powerful and brutal Darkseid was.
If they hadn't arrived in time, not only would Bruce Wayne be dead, but the Justice League would have been left with a Pyrrhic victory.
If fighting the Steppenwolf was this difficult, then if Darkseid himself came, these heroes from the Justice League wouldn't stand a chance against the forces of Apokolips.
In the end, it might come down to The Flash having to travel through time again to reset the universe and create a new timeline.
