Bai Cheng'an returned to the banquet hall of the engagement scene only to find a few staff members doing post-event cleanup. The chandeliers were off, with just a few regular lights on, which made the hall look particularly desolate.
"Has everyone left?" Bai Cheng'an asked.
The staff member replied, "Yes, they've left! They've gone to the dinner party!"
Bai Cheng'an looked at his watch, nodded, and immediately left the hall to hurry to the dinner party.
Meanwhile, at the end of the long corridor outside the hall, in the dark resting room, Qian Sisi crouched in the corner next to a single sofa, hugging her knees, and watched the tightly closed door in despair.
After desperately pounding on the door for half an hour, her strength had all but dissipated. She had nothing to eat the entire evening, apart from a teacup-sized cake, and now she was both hungry and thirsty.
