The child began to cry heart-wrenchingly, and Yan Luoxi stood up to follow the sound. Soon, she found a swaddled baby behind the bushes in the green belt.
Close by, the child had kicked off the swaddle, his limbs flailing in mid-air as he cried bitterly, in a way that tugged at the heartstrings.
Yan Luoxi pushed her way through the green belt and bent down to pick up the child. The little one, plump little hands clutching tightly at her collar, was crying relentlessly with a wide-open mouth, looking both heartbroken and wronged, as if he had been abandoned.
Yan Luoxi held him and walked out from the greenery, carefully bouncing him to soothe the child, "Baby, be good, don't cry, don't cry, where are your parents? Why did they leave you in the bushes?"
Yan Luoxi watched as the child cried until his face was red and ears were hot, his tiny face streaked with tears. She couldn't help but feel distressed. This was a villa neighborhood; who would leave a child here?
