Stopping was a risk Hugo was willing to take upon catching Mint inside the truck. Even though he knew these guys might not be the same group as the ones he had been fighting previously, and that these guys were more dangerous with how they handled their weapons, he still pulled over.
Mint was with them, after all, and he needed to know if she was alright.
Seated in the driver's seat, Hugo didn't jump out immediately. Instead, he gazed at the truck that had pulled over before him.
The men inside jumped out of the truck, but they didn't approach him. Instead, they raised their hands. Even so, that didn't earn them Hugo's complacency—not with those weapons still wrapped around their bodies.
Reaching for his rifle on the passenger seat, Hugo opened the door and stepped out. He grimaced as his leg ached intensely, but he quickly shrugged it off. He straightened his back, eyeing the people who hadn't moved away from the truck.
