After Dean and Leah left, Alice returned when her head shot back, eyes glazed over, Jasper moving to her side.
"What did you see?" asks Jasper, affectionately rubbing her arm.
"The Volturi are coming, the wolves need to leave now," said Alice in a grave voice.
Sam turned human recognizing the name, "The Volturi? What do they want?"
"They're likely here for the Newborn army, once they see we took care of things they'll leave, but if they see you, they'll send an army to wipe you out, an experienced army that knows how to fight," said Carlisle.
"Why don't we kill them? How would anyone know?" asks Sam, trying to glean more information.
"You don't understand the dire situation at hand, the sheer calamity waiting to happen should they send their forces, you cannot possibly imagine the amount they have wiped out over the many centuries, nigh the many millennia since their founding," explained Carlisle, doing his best to express the perils they posse.
"Then we'll leave for now, I guess we'll be fine letting the morning sun take care of all this," said Sam, cleverly avoiding saying his need for them not to be burned.
"Should have known you would know about that, it's surprising how many of our kind don't, yes that shouldn't be a problem," said Carlisle.
Shifting back, Sam led the others away, (We'll take up in the woods and watch, Quil can take Embry home and check in on things back at the refuge.)
(Oh come on, I've been waiting to see what these Volturi look like,) Embry whined.
(Too bad, next time maybe you won't get distracted in the middle of a fight,) said Quil, dragging him away.
(Think he's okay?) asked Embry.
(It's Jake, of course he's okay,) said Quil offhandedly.
...
(We only got one shot, do just like we practiced,) said Dean, sprinting up the mountain.
(I know,) said Leah determinedly, letting him lead.
Passing a boulder she growls, (I can smell the bitch.)
(Good, maybe we're not too late,) said Dean, leaping up another ledge.
"Edward!" Bella's fearful cry rings out as they close in, and a female's laugh of victory.
"Stay there and watch as I rip out your mate's throat as you did mine," says the redhead, pushing a broken Edward into the rock face with a missing arm and leg, cracks running all over his body, and small fist-size holes.
Grinning, Victoria approaches Bella slowly enjoying the moment, flashing towards her when she stumbles back and falls, giggling at how pathetic she truly is.
"This was always going to be your end, whether by me or another, you don't have what it takes to be one of us," she hissed, gripping Bella's neck and lifting her off the ground.
"Fuck you," says Bella spitting in her face, causing Edward to cringe, despite his fear for her.
Victoria hisses angrily ready to end it when she lets Bella go, and starts to jump away, sensing the danger behind her.
Leaping at the redhead, claws, and jaws open, he isn't surprised to find her already dodging. He does, however, shock her by turning human midair and grabbing her with an outstretched arm, preventing her escape as the momentum pushes them into the ground rolling several feet.
Leah's light-gray wolf came next and was directly upon her before Victoria even realized what was happening, screaming in agony when Leah ripped into her torso savagely, killing her in the most painful way she could.
Everything happened so quickly that it took a minute for Bella to register what happened after she fell.
Getting back to her feet she rushed towards Jake, who had fallen by a tree with a gaping hole in his side and his heart torn out, next to the body of a headless Riley who still held his wolf head in his grasp.
She leaned over him crying, "Jake, I'm so sorry."
Hearing the end of Victoria, she wiped her tears and went to Edward, gathering his missing body parts along the way.
Shifting back into his golden form, Dean swallowed the head and said, "It's done."
Leah howled in victory, joined by the rest as a chorus of howls rang out in the snowing forests signaling the end of a dark chapter in all their lives.
She then noticed Jake for the first time, (Is he dead?)
(If only) says Dean.
(You don't mean that,) said Leah.
(Don't I?) says Dean.
(You were the one to tell me about the blood pact, it isn't all his fault,) Leah said, playing devil's advocate.
(Yes, it is, how would you feel if it was Seth who got distracted instead of Embry,) said Dean.
(Oh my god, Seth!) exclaims Leah, running off, knowing such a thing was possible.
Dean lets her go, if Seth was in trouble though, he was confident one of the young wolves would have howled in time.
Carrying Jake down the mountain, Sam, Jared, and Paul meet him at the bottom where he drops him.
(Is he okay?) asked Sam.
(For now,) said Dean ominously, (He'll heal.)
(The Volturi showed up,) informed Sam.
(And?) asked Dean.
(The Cullen talked to them, and they left, they were displeased to know Bella was still human but the Cullens assured them she would be changed at the wedding, that Alice saw it,) said Sam.
(Then that's when we'll end them,) said Dean, pleasing them. Even Sam wouldn't abide by them breaking the treaty.
(Now if you'll excuse me, dinner awaits,) said Dean, his stomach rumbling.
(We'll go then,) said Sam.
(Take this with,) said Dean, indicating Jake.
Sam sighed, picking Jake up with his jaws, (See you later.)
(Later,) said Jared and Paul following Sam back to the refuge.
During the fight, his small increase in strength while helpful was still barely noticeable after eating so many vamps, but now with this large gourmet before him, he was eager to see what would happen when he finished digesting them all.
He spent the entire night gorging himself on vamps and yet still felt hungry, a feeling he feared would never go away fully. Noticing the light of day was fast approaching he gathered what was left under the shade and began to dig a pit to dump the rest for later.
