I glanced at the elven sentries and saw that they were about to speak up, telling Lucille that they'd taken perfect care of such needs, but I raised my arm, silencing them. I wanted the introduction to be genuine, and Lucille's motherly nature was a big part of her existence.
Her hands roamed over the bark as if searching for signs of distress. "Did you feel scared when we didn't talk to you enough? Were you sad? I promise I won't ignore you ever again, okay? Luci Mommy's here now. I'll take care of you properly from now on, I swear."
The Geim's trunk vibrated beneath her touch. It wasn't quite speech, not yet, but something deep within it was very clearly listening.
Lucille let out a soft gasp. "You're waking up, aren't you? You've been waiting for us, haven't you?" She cupped her hands over what she presumed to be its 'heart' and whispered, "It's okay. Take your time. No rush. But whenever you're ready… I will be right here."
