Chapter 262 - Chapter 262: Twisted Situation - "Dual Lines"

In the desert outskirts of Night City;

At this moment, a Luna transport ship was steadily flying through the air.

Dorn, who had easily taken care of all the guards at the Arasaka Tower, stood at the rear of the open hatch, eyes slightly closed, trying to use his psychic abilities to lock onto his newly arrived "little brother."

Before long, he faintly sensed a slight golden glow atop a small hill, like a flickering flame in the wind.

His "little brother" must be there.

Dorn opened his eyes, pulled up a small holographic screen in front of him using his power armor, and marked the target on the mini-map for the pilot.

Before long, the Luna transport brought him to the top of the small hill.

The pilot lowered the landing gear, allowing the Luna to make a smooth stop, and Dorn left the cabin.

Thud, thud.

The heavy footsteps of his magnetic boots echoed across the hill.

"Waa~ Waa!!"

At the same time, the cries of a baby rang out all around.

Dorn walked slowly to a shallow pit, where he saw his "little brother" with black hair and a rather chubby figure.

Seeing this, Dorn quickened his pace into the shallow pit, removed the red cloak that adorned his power armor, and crouched beside the still unnamed little brother, carefully wrapping him in the cloak like a swaddling cloth.

He then picked up his little brother, cradling him in his arms, and walked back toward the waiting Luna transport.

As he approached, Dorn uploaded all the footage captured by his power armor to his father's private inbox, looking down at his brother with a smile.

"Kid, I really hope you grow up fast and help me take on some of this work pressure, haha!"

Meanwhile, at the 0459 Core Base;

.

Samuel Young, who was in the top office, didn't need Dorn to report back. He already knew that a new son had arrived in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.

After all, the long-dormant, cold voice had echoed in his mind:

"A new descendant has arrived on the outskirts of Night City."

Beep-beep.

Suddenly, a notification sound came from the speakers.

A flashing icon for a private email also popped up on the hard-light screen floating above his desk.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Samuel Young grabbed the large mouse that fit his hand and opened the email to read it.

"Oh?"

Seeing Dorn's video message, especially the appearance of his newly arrived son, Samuel couldn't help but let out a sigh.

Upon seeing the child's face, Samuel's first thought was of that "unfortunate worker," the Primarch of the Fourth Legion and the Iron Warriors—Perturabo.

The Fourth Legion's leader in Warhammer 40k could be described by titles like "Grumpy Boss," "Heartless Contractor," "One-in-Eleven Massacre Maniac," and "Personification of Resentment."

Although Perturabo's early years seemed like those of a "tool" for war and control, being raised by a warlord foster father with a background that "justified rebellion," Perturabo was actually far more fortunate than most of his brothers.

At the very least, his warlord foster father was willing to hold "Olympic Games" for Perturabo, and his foster sister, the warlord's daughter, provided emotional comfort, understanding, and support.

In this light, Perturabo's upbringing was arguably second only to Guilliman among the Primarchs in Warhammer 40k.

But in the end, Perturabo strangled his sister, Kalliphon, with his own hands after she criticized his harsh personality.

The simplest way to describe Perturabo is:

A neurotic.

This twisted Primarch longed for care, understanding, and comfort, but his overwhelming pride made him feel that he didn't need anyone else's support or recognition. He saw it as a fatal weakness.

When someone fulfilled Perturabo's emotional needs, it violated his pride. Yet, when someone ignored his accomplishments, it enraged this twisted Primarch, filling him with resentment.

So, anyone standing in front of Perturabo was bound to provoke him in some way, like an extreme neurotic who could never be satisfied.

A true representative of a twisted personality.

"Hmm..."

Thinking about this, even Samuel Young felt a headache coming on, his brows furrowing as he considered how to educate this rather peculiar son.

After some thought, Samuel operated the oversized keyboard and began typing a reply:

"He is indeed your little brother. Find time to send him to the core base in Universe 08, where Dr. Ashford and I will personally look after him.

As for you, my child, I'm entrusting you with the consolidation of Earth 09. Though the human level there is weaker than ours on Atlas, caution is key.

After all, the megacorporations there are willing to use physical means like mercenaries, special forces, and even tactical and strategic weapons like nuclear bombs to eliminate their competitors."

After writing the email, Samuel lightly clicked the mouse to send it to Dorn, who was in another universe.

Then, he dismissed the hard-light screen related to Cyberpunk 2077 and pulled up the galactic map of the Halo universe.

At this stage, the planets Rich and Shield World 0459, located on the fringes of UNSC territory, were both under the direct jurisdiction of Atlas.

Meanwhile, the Covenant, which once controlled half the galaxy, was nearing total collapse.

From Samuel Young's perspective, the star systems on the "left side" of the galaxy were still Covenant colonies, overseen by the Jiralhanae (Brutes) and meant to be a fallback position to deal with possible rebellions.

These territories were even larger than those of the Sangheili (Elites) and their direct dominions.

However, the Covenant's capital, High Charity, which held all their vital information and core technology, had already fallen into the hands of Atlas and the Sangheili, thanks to their combined efforts.

Additionally, High Charity still held one of the main culprits behind the Forerunners' disappearance: the Mendicant Bias.

But the Mendicant Bias in High Charity was only part of its fractured personality.

Before his transmigration, Samuel Young had researched Mendicant Bias's records.

Though its betrayal during the Forerunner-Flood war had worsened the Forerunners' already dire situation, part of Mendicant Bias's personality wanted to help humanity as much as possible, in an attempt to atone for the grave sins it had committed.

In the original timeline of the Halo universe, this fragment of Mendicant Bias had even wanted to activate the Forerunner ships' long-range teleportation function to transport the humans being slaughtered by the Covenant on Rich to High Charity for shelter, then proclaim to the entire Covenant that humans were the true Reclaimers.

Unfortunately, it failed, and the Prophets of Truth, Regret, and Mercy completely sealed it away.

Recalling this, Samuel Young realized it was time to launch a "dual-front operation."

On one hand, he, along with Leman, Mortarion, and Corax, would lead the company fleet and four Journey-class ships to the area around High Charity, further deepening the Covenant's division.

On the other hand, the Investigation Department would launch "black" operations.

The department would use the internet to mount a media offensive, forcing the UNSC, UEG, and rebel forces into a passive position, while physically eliminating the corrupt figures behind the scenes.

At that moment;

Having finished delegating the brief orders, Samuel stood up and left the office, heading to the biological research center connected to the command building.

He was going to personally confirm the status of the new smart AI and the two bioweapons that would soon be transported to Reach via the Ark with Alexia and Halsey.
