For the next few days, life didn't slow down for Damon and Svetlana. It sped up. Everything felt like it was happening at once.
Svetlana stayed under observation while the doctors monitored her recovery.
They ran the usual post-delivery tests, making sure her vitals were stable and that she was healing properly.
She was recovering faster than expected, but Damon still didn't let himself relax until the doctors gave a full green light.
Meanwhile, Damon had taken on more than ever. He wasn't just a champion fighter now, he was a new father, and that came with a different kind of pressure. One he welcomed.
He bought a crib, simple and sturdy, nothing too fancy, and spent half the evening putting it together in their bedroom.
He wanted Ava close, at least for now. Svetlana had suggested waiting to move her to the nursery. Damon didn't argue.
There were papers to fill, hospital records to sort out, birth certificates to register.
