Damon's return fight was officially announced. His first title defense after the long break.
PDD.
It wasn't shocking. In fact, it made sense. PDD had been active, had won a solid bounce-back fight, and was still ranked high enough to justify a shot.
But to most fans, it didn't feel like a challenge. Damon had already beaten the men who beat PDD. Not once, but twice. In the eyes of the public, this was just another name to cross off.
To Damon, it felt the same.
He didn't disrespect PDD. He knew the man was skilled.
He knew he'd bring a real fight. But the excitement wasn't there. He had climbed the mountain.
Now he was circling it. Beating names he'd already passed on the way up. It was the reason he had started thinking about moving to light heavyweight.
There was no thrill in fighting a man whose limits had already been exposed.
But it was the job. So he prepared.
The announcement came with media hype, but the public response was mixed. And as usual, Chirper lit up.
