Chapter 42 - Rocket Victory ~ Alternate Universe

"Wh..." He whimpered as he slowly sat up to look around. He didn't know quite where he was exactly, but one thing was clear... It wasn't Earth, at least he didn't think so. Strange birds flew overhead, while the people around him relaxed near a pool. Some people played in the water, while others walked around casually. However, most of the people were accompanied by creatures that were... Strange. Flying starfish, strange-eared rats that shot electricity from their cheeks... It took him a few minutes to gather his composure as he leaned forward, letting out a gentle sigh as a shadow began to loom overhead.

"What are you?" The voice said high above, blocking out the sun. He looked up to see the red-head staring back at him, her expression somewhat... Cold, but she seemed to be around 20 years of age. He began to clear his throat to speak back to her as she took a knee, her toes a few inches from his legs.

"I..." Mathew began as he watched her fiddle with a small ball between her fingers. Red, white, with a little button on the center.

"Ya know, Buggie. A few years ago I was afraid of your type. I'm more of a water trainer myself... You don't really look useful though, so there's no point in capturing you." She replied, causing Mathew's heart to sink in his chest. He glanced around again to the others nearby, and noticed something peculiar about them all. The ones who were fully clothed had shirts with a big red "R" on the center...

"Misty, The boss wants to see ya'" A voice came from off in the distance.

"Tell em' to hold on a second, I'm dealing with something." Misty replied as she slid her foot forward, forcing the little person to his back. He whimpered out as the ball of her foot settled on his body, forcing the air from his lungs. He tried to breathe, filling his nostrils with a rather... Familiar scent. Sweat, grime... She definitely hadn't come out of the pool just now. She was probably on her way over when she found him, which was evident by the bit of sock lint that was pressed against his tiny eye socket.

"Wh..." Mathew whimpered, trying to get her to stop as he shifted uncomfortably beneath the skin of her foot.

"Team Rocket doesn't have a use for pathetic creatures like yourself... Bye buggy." She said with a callous smile.

Just as she finished speaking, she pressed down. Mathew felt his body resist the pressure as he held what breath he could, but it was futile. She simply shifted her weight forward, lifting herself up slightly to get more pressure on the little thing. He only resisted for a second before he felt his body collapse beneath Misty's weight. Slowly she lifted her foot, resting her weight on the heel and the ball of her other foot as she began to stand.

"See? A good Pokemon woulda' been able to resist that. Weakling..." She said as she balanced on one foot to examine the splatter on her sole. "Hmm... You do look weird though. Like a person or something.... Oh well."

She walked off toward the boss' room at the Resort that Team Rocket had booked for their soldiers.

Later on, the water trainer dove head-first into the pool with her comrades. Mathew's little broken body was washed off easily and snatched up by a little Vaporeon that had been swimming nearby. His tiny body was ripped to shreds in Vaporeon's maw, and as he felt himself mix with it's stomach acids, the pain began to subside...
