Chapter 108 - The Magician

The crisp chill of the night's wind cut through the cemetery and slid across her bare skin, though it didn't seem to phase her at all. One of the few spells that Hiya had actually mastered allowed her to maintain her internal temperature just fine without the use of heavy clothes - allowing her to pick and choose what kind of outfits she would wear without having to worry about the weather! She gazed up into the orange sky as she made her way along the path toward a small place of study outside of the cemetery itself. It was a usual spot for her to learn to control her abilities! Accidentally swallowing a magic rock back when she was still teething granted her some serious magical power - though she had no idea how to use it.

"Alright..." She said softly as she set down her books to the side on a cement slab she used as a table often, "This time, I'll be sure to get it right."

Far away from anyone else, she stood alone. It was better this way... A serious gaze befell her face as she stood, and after taking a deep breath in and out, she began. Electricity began to arch around her back toward her hands as though being summoned by her very will. She was focused, ready for anything as the world around her felt like it began to quake. Slowly, her hands began to rise from her side out to the area in front of her as she summoned powers from another world to her very command. She looked absolutely determined to a frightening degree. Like a songstress playing her favorite tune, she slid her right foot forward and the electricity followed her every movement.

She was the conductor, and the otherworldly energy was her orchestra!

Hiya could feel the small rocks of the earth beneath her skin... It felt wonderful, liberating... Her toes dug into the ground as she drew more and more energy from the earth before finally dragging her sole back along the floor to a solid position. In response, the world before her came forward at a blinding speed! It was almost as though the world itself was ready to work for her, to strike her foes down at her beck and call! Her mind's natural instincts took over as her right foot slid forward once more, stamping carelessly on the ground in order to keep the world away....

*Crunch!*

A chill ran up her spine as she quickly lifted her foot from the ground to see what she had stepped on! She had no idea... It wasn't a leaf, it felt more like an animal of some sort! How could she be so careless! A quick glance though, revealed nothing but tamped grass beneath where she stood... She could feel some dirt caked on her foot, but that was normal for someone who liked to walk around barefoot anyway. After clearing her throat, she let out a gentle sigh of relief and stepped back down. That was a good try! Impressive, but nearly falling face-first into the ground wasn't exactly part of the plan. She had her instructors to impress with her mastery of electricity, not her lack of hand-eye coordination and balance. Thinking better of her location, she snagged up her books and began to make her way toward a less accident-prone area.

The last thing she wanted to do was re-animate the dead...

MEANWHILE

He had no strength! Not yet at least, as the giant woman came toward his position. Helpless, the little blue-haired man lay in the grass as he watched her nearly fall over putting her books down. She looked nervous, happy but fairly uncoordinated. The woman then stood back up and took a few more steps toward his little body. Her eyes didn't glance down, not even for a second as she stood barefoot in the grass less than a foot away. With all his strength, the little one looked down his quaking little body at her right foot, that had settled directly below him...

She looked determined, though still fairly nervous.

Sparks bean to spit from her back, though all Mat could see from his position on the ground were little bits of flashing light behind her. Sometimes a full arch of electricity would reach to her hands, but it was mostly wild and uncontrolled... She was obviously powerful, but even to his untrained eyes he could tell she couldn't wield her abilities properly. He cleared his throat, quivering as he watched her sole slide forward in the grass over his little body.

He yelped in pleasure as he came to rest beneath the ball of her foot. His face stuck under her toes, he could feel the electricity flowing around him. Unable to even squirm, the tiny man lay in the grass as her damp skin bore down on his little body. Eventually, her toes began to dig into the ground around him... His head was pulled up into their grip, mashing his face into her foot unwittingly as she enjoyed the sensation of the earth beneath her feet... The pleasureful torture lasted for hours it felt like, driving him to the brink of madness just before she slid her foot back...

Then, what happened next seemed to be akin to watching a building topple over. Hiya lost her balance and began to fall toward him! He could easily see the shock that plastered her face as the foot that was once simply gripping at him came over his body once more in a split second. He burst beneath her like an insect... A violent twist as her foot tried to steady herself ensured that his body would be absolutely devastated. His arms were ripped from his torso and threaded to pieces in the dirt, the same with his legs. The dew covered all traces of his blood on the ground though...

He didn't know if she felt him or not... She lifted her foot from the ground for a few seconds before dropping it back down to resume her walk... He would be gone by the time she arrived to her classes... Most of his body brushed off her foot by the grass, other bits spread across the pavement. All that remained of his existence was a small collection of dirt in the form of a dark smudge on her skin...
