Chapter 102 - Chapter 100: corpses

The people around who had been knocked down by Marco kept standing up, murmuring these words.

Rayleigh looked at Larson, and the scene in front of him was beyond his comprehension.

But Larson was also shocked by the scene in front of him, and he could only pretend not to see Rayleigh's confused look.

Suddenly, the captain picked up the machete on the ground and looked at Larson angrily: "It's you, it's all because of you, it's all because of you!"

With that said, he rushed directly toward Larson, as if he had forgotten the fear in his heart.

A second ago, he didn't dare to look directly into Larson's eyes, but now he dared to charge toward him with a weapon raised. This magical scene unfolded right under Larson's nose.

Larson squinted his eyes. Naturally, he would not be frightened by what he saw. In fact, even if the captain had forgotten his fear, his martial arts level was still terrible. Larson didn't even take out the long sword on his waist, easily knocking him down.

"Larson, what should we do now?" Rayleigh asked with a frown.

Looking at the captain, who kept trying to stand up only to be knocked down again, and then glancing at the faces of those with malicious intent around him, Larson pondered for a moment: "Kill them all."

Solving all unknown problems is often as simple as using force.

After receiving Larson's order, Marco and the others rushed out instantly.

It took less than a moment for everyone to fall again.

Originally, Marco could have easily dealt with them alone, but now, with so many others helping, the task became even easier.

"Why did they become like this?" Rayleigh asked, frowning in confusion.

They had seemed normal just moments ago, but after hearing Larson's words, it was as if they had lost all sense of reason.

Larson rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I have an idea."

"What idea?" Rayleigh asked.

Larson looked at the captain at his feet, the last remaining member of his pirate crew. "I want to go back and take a look."

"Go back?"

"Yes, let's go back and see if their bodies are still there."

Everyone felt relieved when they heard Larson wasn't planning to leave Yerug Island just yet.

Only Rayleigh frowned. "You mean..."

He seemed to be the only one who understood Larson's intentions.

"Yeah," Larson nodded. "I want to know if these people have been resurrected from the dead or if something else is at play."

A cold wind blew by, bringing a slight chill.

Marco shuddered. "Larson, don't scare me!"

Larson ignored him, his mind drifting back to the beasts they had encountered earlier.

There was a beast that couldn't be killed, and now these people seemed to be rising from the dead. What strange powers did Yerug Island possess?

At that moment, Gaban said, "If so many of us go back, we might run into those beasts again!"

They had finally escaped the beasts, and returning could mean tangling with them all over again, wasting their efforts.

Fortunately, Larson had prepared for this.

Larson's gaze fell on Marco. "Marco, I'll leave it to you to go back and investigate."

"Me?" Marco was dumbfounded. "I, uh, I suddenly remembered something urgent! Maybe you should ask someone else!"

Go back? No way! Just looking at these people was terrifying enough; who knew what strange things he'd encounter if he returned?

Even if Marco were killed, he wasn't going back.

Larson had anticipated Marco's reaction. He approached, patting Marco on the shoulder with a helpless sigh. "Marco, as the captain of our Whitebeard Pirates, do you really think there's anyone else here more suitable for this task than you?"

Larson lowered his voice. "Marco, you have to go because I don't trust anyone else with this mission."

This flattery worked wonders on Marco, and his eyes lit up with a smile. "Really? You really think so?"

"Of course!" Larson nodded solemnly, glancing around before continuing quietly. "You're the captain of our Whitebeard Pirates' First Division. Apart from the captain and me, you have the highest status on our ship. You represent the face of the Whitebeard Pirates. We can't let the Roger Pirates look down on us."

Marco's eyes gleamed with fire, excitement surging through him. "Don't worry, leave it to me!"

With that, he spread his wings and flew back toward the path they came from.

As Marco left, Whitebeard, Roger, and the others exchanged complicated glances.

Rayleigh couldn't hold back anymore. "Larson, are you really okay with tricking the younger generation like that?"

Though Larson's voice hadn't been loud, everyone present could hear him clearly, knowing exactly what he had said to Marco.

Larson smiled slightly. "Now, we just wait here. As for them..." Larson glanced at the corpses on the ground. "Dig a hole and bury them."

"I'm not dead... it wasn't me who died... I can't die..."

Everyone's eyes fell on the captain lying on the ground, and Larson suddenly remembered that he had forgotten about him.

Larson focused his gaze on the man, who remained the same as before, his eyes red and filled with madness.

However, Larson had broken the man's hands and feet, leaving him unable to stand.

Seeing Rayleigh walking over with a sword, Larson stopped him in time. "Don't kill him, I'll keep him for something useful."

Rayleigh didn't say anything, silently sheathing the sword.

Moments later, a sudden sound came from above.

"I'm back!" A familiar voice echoed above, and the next second, Marco flew down, holding something unknown.

"What did you see when you went back?" Rayleigh asked impatiently.

At that moment, Marco's expression was grim, his eyes locked on the captain on the ground with a complex look.

"What is it? Speak up!" Rayleigh pressed with a frown.

Marco pursed his lips. "You'd better see for yourselves."

With that, he tossed something in front of them.

It was only then that everyone noticed he had been holding something in his hand.

When they saw what it was, everyone was stunned.

It was the body of a man who looked exactly like the crazed captain lying at their feet.
