It was already past eight in the evening when the two left the restaurant. Ye Shaotang had been drinking, so he couldn't drive and called his driver to come.
"I'll have my driver drop you off on the way," he said.
"No need, it's just a few bus stops away, very convenient," Xia Lu smiled, "Thank you for helping me find a job. I will definitely work hard."
"Glad to be of service," Ye Shaotang smiled.
The two stood together by the roadside, and he glanced down to notice the red marks that her shoes had rubbed onto Xia Lu's heels.
"Did you walk a lot today?"
Xia Lu nodded her head. "Not too bad, you have to walk a bit when looking at houses. Actually, the ones we saw today were quite close."
"Doesn't it hurt?" Ye Shaotang asked softly, squatting down to hold Xia Lu's shoe and closely examining her ankle, "It's already red."
Xia Lu looked down at him and didn't respond right away, mainly because in that moment, she couldn't think of the right thing to say.
