"How is she, doctor?" Aiden asked somberly when he saw the doctor finally turn to face them.
On the bed, Selene was lying still, looking weaker than before. Arwen's brows knitted in a frown as she took in the sight.
If she hadn't seen Selene collapse with her own eyes, she might have doubted it. But watching her fall so hard onto the floor had left no room for disbelief.
"Ms. Martin is fine, Mr. Winslow," the doctor said calmly. "It's just fatigue. Her body gave in under accumulated stress. She will recover after some rest."
Aiden nodded, though the tight crease between his brows didn't ease.
The doctor gave Selene one last glance before adding, "She should wake up soon. Rest assured. I will take my leave."
Aiden nodded again as Mr. Jones stepped forward to escort the doctor out.
