Chapter 167 - Chapter 169

Half a month later.

"Lost the whereabouts of Uchiha Shisui?"

The others frowned slightly. Without knowing Uchiha Shisui's whereabouts, it would be impossible to surround and eliminate him.

"Could it be that Uchiha Shisui was secretly sent out of the village by the Third Hokage to carry out a mission?"

Uchiha Kana asked, her tone filled with confusion.

"That's a possibility, but it's also possible that they realized the identity of the traitor was exposed. To prevent the Uchiha family from taking action against Uchiha Shisui, they may have placed him in a secret location."

The Third Elder, Uchiha Tsukasa, offered his own speculation.

"If we want to deal with Uchiha Shisui, we must first determine his location and confirm it as soon as possible."

Uchiha Fugaku turned his gaze to Uchiha Kana.

"When patrolling, instruct the security team to pay closer attention. If they spot Uchiha Shisui or suspect a location where he might be hiding, they must report it immediately."

"I will."

Uchiha Kana nodded in agreement.

In Konoha, in an isolated house.

Uchiha Shisui, who had not returned to the Uchiha family in a long time, stood in the yard with his right eye wrapped in white gauze.

This secluded residence had been prepared by the Third Hokage to help him avoid the Uchiha family while he recovered from his eye transplant. It provided a safe and quiet place for his recovery.

Hearing approaching footsteps, Shisui turned toward the sound with his left eye.

From the shadows emerged a middle-aged woman in a medical ninja uniform, carrying a medical kit.

This was Akame Haru, a highly skilled medical ninja in Konoha. Though not as renowned as Tsunade, her expertise was among the best. She had performed Shisui's eye transplant surgery.

"Doctor Akame, can we remove the gauze today?"

Uchiha Shisui asked hopefully.

"It's been enough time to remove the gauze, but we'll need to check the results of the transplant to be sure."

Akame Haru nodded.

She opened her medical kit, took out a pair of scissors, and approached Shisui. Carefully, she cut the knotted gauze and began to unwind it.

As the gauze came off, light hit Shisui's right eye, and he instinctively closed it, squinting against the brightness. Slowly, he opened it again.

For the first time in weeks, his vision in the right eye was clear. He could see every detail—the veins on the leaves in the yard, the smallest movements in the air.

Akame Haru leaned in to examine the eye carefully. After a moment, she straightened and smiled.

"There's no sign of rejection. Your vision is intact. The eye transplant was a complete success."

"Thank you very much."

Uchiha Shisui expressed his gratitude sincerely.

"There's no need to thank me. I was simply following Hokage-sama's orders."

Akame Haru packed up her tools and nodded politely before turning to leave.

Shisui reached up and touched his right eye, relief washing over him.

The blindness in that eye had been unsettling, but now it was restored, and his spirits soared.

Feeling invigorated, he put on his ninja uniform for the first time in weeks and moved to the center of the yard. Drawing his sword, he began to practice, executing each movement with precision.

An hour later, he stopped, sweat beading on his forehead. Taking a deep breath, he felt a rare sense of calm and clarity.

Clap, clap, clap.

Applause echoed through the yard.

Shisui turned toward the sound and saw the Third Hokage standing at the edge of the yard, watching him. The Hokage's expression was calm, a faint smile on his face.

"Hokage-sama!"

Shisui greeted him respectfully.

"Well, it seems you've recovered well. How do you feel? Is there anything wrong with your right eye?"

The Third Hokage asked.

"I feel no abnormalities."

Shisui replied.

"That's good."

The Third Hokage nodded, clearly pleased.

Shisui was a vital asset to his plans. His loyalty and exceptional skill made him irreplaceable. If only Shisui had the Mangekyō Sharingan, his strength would surpass even his former peak.

"Hokage-sama, now that my eyes have recovered, I'm ready to resume my missions. When can I return to the ANBU?"

Shisui asked eagerly. His desire to contribute to the Hokage's vision for the village burned strongly within him.

"There's no need to rush. Rest for a while longer."

The Third Hokage raised a hand to temper Shisui's eagerness.

"You've just had the gauze removed. Take some time to ensure your recovery is stable before returning to the ANBU."

"Yes."

Although he was eager to return, Shisui respected the Hokage's advice and decided to wait.

After a moment, Shisui's thoughts turned to the outside world. During his isolation, he had been cut off from the village's affairs.

"Hokage-sama, has anything significant happened in the village recently?"

"I'm sure you've heard about Orochimaru sneaking into the village some time ago."

"Yes. It's unfortunate that I was still recovering and unable to help. Perhaps I could have stopped Orochimaru and prevented his escape."

Shisui said, regret etched on his face.

"Besides Orochimaru's intrusion, there's been another matter. Shimura Tomohisa, an elite jonin of the Shimura family, was killed on a mission by a rogue ninja from the Hidden Mist Village."

"Killed by a rogue ninja from the Hidden Mist Village?"

Shisui's brow furrowed. The idea of an elite jonin falling to a rogue ninja struck him as concerning.

"This rogue ninja was no ordinary opponent. He possessed the Ice Release Kekkei Genkai and had strength surpassing most elite jonin."

The Third Hokage explained.

Shisui nodded, his concern shifting slightly.

"And what about the Uchiha… family?"

After a brief hesitation, he asked.

The Third Hokage's expression darkened slightly, and his already sparse eyebrows furrowed further.

"According to Itachi's reports, there is still widespread dissatisfaction within the Uchiha clan. Their resentment toward the village and myself has not diminished."

He paused, his voice heavy with disappointment.

"Not long ago, Uchiha Fugaku openly contradicted me in public."

"Contradicted Hokage-sama… in public?"

Shisui's heart sank. The optimism he felt from his recovered eye faded, replaced by a deep unease.

If Uchiha Fugaku had gone so far as to openly defy the Hokage, the rift between the Uchiha clan and the village was far worse than Shisui had feared.

'Is that really the only way?'

He questioned himself silently, doubt and sorrow clouding his thoughts.
