Chapter 170 - Chapter 172

"If I transplant a pair of three-tomoe Sharingan, Number One's strength might reach the level of an elite jonin."

The Sharingan provides a tremendous boost to a shinobi's combat power. With a fully matured three-tomoe Sharingan—the strongest form before reaching the Mangekyō—Number One's strength could be elevated from jonin to elite jonin.

The more Uchiha Fugaku considered this possibility, the more convinced he became. He couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement.

Even among the Uchiha, where genius shinobi were not uncommon, elite jonin were still a rare breed.

Having another powerful warrior under his command—one who was absolutely loyal—would be an invaluable asset.

"I don't know medical ninjutsu, but as the clan head, I don't need to know everything myself."

Fugaku had no intention of performing the surgery on his own.

Instead of hastily learning medical ninjutsu and using half-baked skills to replace Number One's eyes, it would be far more efficient to entrust the task to a skilled medical ninja.

The success rate would undoubtedly be higher.

"Who should I ask to perform the eye transplant?"

His first thought was Uchiha Mikoto, a proficient medical ninja.

However, after careful consideration, he decided against it.

The existence of spore clones had to be kept secret from Uchiha Itachi. If he asked Mikoto to keep it hidden, he would have to reveal to her that only when Itachi already knew.

At this stage, Fugaku had no intention of informing Mikoto that Itachi was an insider.

Scrapping the idea of involving Mikoto, he pondered his other options.

Soon, another name came to mind.

"Uchiha Masaru."

Uchiha Masaru, a jonin, was a former classmate of Uchiha Mikoto at the Ninja Academy.

Like Mikoto, she was highly skilled in medical ninjutsu. In fact, her abilities were not inferior to Mikoto's.

Among the Uchiha clan, she was recognized as one of the most accomplished medical ninja.

With her Sharingan, she naturally had an advantage over other medical specialists when it came to delicate surgical procedures like eye transplants.

There was no doubt in Fugaku's mind—she was the perfect choice.

Leaving the secret chamber, Fugaku stepped outside and called for a nearby Uchiha guard.

"Summon Uchiha Masaru."

"Yes, clan leader."

The Uchiha guard departed immediately.

Not long after, he returned with a woman following closely behind.

She was above average in appearance and had a well-proportioned figure, honed through years of ninja training.

This was Uchiha Masaru.

"Clan leader."

Uchiha Masaru greeted him respectfully.

Fugaku nodded in acknowledgment and spoke.

"I have a task that requires your medical expertise. Follow me."

Leading her into the underground chamber, they descended into a hidden section of the compound.

"What… are these?"

Masaru's eyes widened in astonishment as she looked around.

She was shocked to see multiple versions of Uchiha Fugaku standing or sitting throughout the underground space.

At first glance, it seemed as though the Uchiha clan head had created dozens of shadow clones.

However, she quickly realized something was off.

"These are my clones," Fugaku explained. "But they are not ordinary shadow clones. They have physical bodies and will not disappear even if attacked."

"The only ones who know about this are the three elders and a few elite jonin within the clan. You must never reveal this to anyone."

Fugaku's gaze was serious.

He wasn't worried about Masaru being a spy for the Third Hokage. Uchiha Kana had thoroughly investigated her and confirmed she had no ties to Hiruzen.

"Understood."

Masaru gave a firm nod.

The two proceeded into an adjacent chamber, a spacious operating room designed for surgical procedures.

In the center was an operating table surrounded by various medical instruments.

Along the walls, rows of glass containers were neatly lined up, each filled with a preservative solution.

Suspended in the liquid were pairs of blood-red eyes, each connected to thin nerve strands.

These were Sharingan collected from deceased Uchiha clan members.

Since the Sharingan was a coveted bloodline limit, enemy shinobi often stole corpses for their eyes.

To prevent this, the Uchiha had a tradition: whenever a clan member with the Sharingan died, their eyes would be removed.

The stored Sharingan could then be transplanted into clan members who had lost their sight in battle.

"This room is where we conduct Sharingan transplants for our injured brethren," Fugaku explained.

"Number One."

Fugaku called out.

A moment later, Number One stepped into the room.

Turning back to Masaru, he issued his command.

"I want you to replace his eyes with a pair of three-tomoe Sharingan. Can you do it?"

Masaru frowned slightly.

"Clan leader… I don't know what your clone truly is, but most people experience severe rejection when they receive a Sharingan transplant."

"Before surgery, we typically run extensive medical tests at Konoha Hospital to determine compatibility."

She was clearly concerned.

"You don't need to worry about that," Fugaku dismissed the concern. "I am certain he can fully adapt to the Sharingan."

Masaru studied him for a moment, then nodded.

"Very well. In that case, yes, I can perform the transplant."

"Good. Then get started."

Fugaku gestured toward the rows of preserved Sharingan.

"As for the eyes, select any pair you find suitable."

"Understood."

Masaru wasted no time preparing for surgery.

Meanwhile, Fugaku left the room, returning to the main hall to wait.

More than an hour later, the door finally opened, and Masaru stepped out.

"Clan leader, the eye replacement is complete."

She wiped the sweat from her forehead, an astonished look in her eyes.

"The surgery was successful, and there was no rejection reaction."

"Additionally…" She hesitated briefly before continuing. "I noticed something peculiar about your clone."

"What do you mean?"

Fugaku narrowed his eyes.

"His healing ability is far beyond normal. Within just a few hours, the new Sharingan will fully integrate with him."

Masaru still looked bewildered.

"This clone of yours… it's not just a simple physical replication. His cellular regeneration is extraordinary."

Fugaku wasn't surprised.

After all, his spore clones inherited Hashirama's cellular properties.

While their regenerative abilities were far weaker than Hashirama's, they still provided enhanced healing.

The clones couldn't instantly recover from serious injuries, but they could heal faster than a normal shinobi.

"You've done well."

Fugaku gave a satisfied nod.

With no rejection reaction and rapid adaptation, Number One would soon awaken his new Sharingan.

"Clan leader, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."

Masaru had completed her task.

With no further business here, she respectfully excused herself and left the chamber.

Fugaku escorted her out and then returned to the hall.

"A few more hours…"

He glanced toward the surgical chamber.

The time it would take for Number One's new eyes to fully settle wasn't long.

Since the wait was short, Fugaku decided to stay and observe.

Taking a seat, he picked up a scroll, flipping through its contents as he waited to witness the results of Number One's eye replacement.
