Jimmy thought for a moment, and since the suspect had already been arrested, there was no need to fret over a day or two. He contacted Chuck and decided that once the gunman, Dave, was confirmed able to leave the hospital, he would be thrown into the detention center to cool off before doing anything else.
Chuck pondered for a long time and ultimately decided to take over the gunman because the two cases were too similar. The hospital had discovered that Dave's hands were covered with glue, completely concealing his fingerprints. There was a medical file written by the doctor, which could serve as evidence.
After receiving Chuck's call, Jimmy thought things over but realized he couldn't just hand the suspect over because the reason they caught this suspect was actually the taxi driver case, which had already been handed over to the FBI. Unless Chuck took the lead, Jimmy would have to send the case back to the NYPD.
