Her crimson eyes gleamed with an amusement so casual it sent chills down Chihiro's spine.
"There you are, Chihiro," Yuuna murmured, tilting her head ever so slightly. "I do apologize that things had to come to this. Truly, I wished for a different outcome."
Chihiro's blood boiled.
Her muscles tensed, rage and humiliation twisting in her gut.
"You think this is funny?"
Yuuna simply smiled.
"Not at all," she said pleasantly. "I simply cannot afford to have you as my enemy. You are far too troublesome. And aligning yourself with my brother?"
Her voice softened, but there was something else lurking beneath it.
Something cold.
Something final.
"That, unfortunately, is something I cannot allow," Yuuna continued. "Fighting both of you at once would be... messy."
She sighed, lifting a delicate hand as if the entire war was nothing more than an inconvenience.
"Which is why," she said smoothly, "I decided to nip this problem at the bud before it grew out of control."
