Chapter 76 - Discovery

After walking a lot, we arrived at an area I've never heard of before, showing that this is much farther than I've ever been, and all thanks to Valac who is guiding me and keeping any monsters away from the doors.

In this area, the band that symbolizes the change of ownership is a deep, slightly vibrant purple, which indicates Aurora very well, although it doesn't explicitly say that this area is hers.

"What's in this room?" I ask Valac, looking at the first room. It seems that, according to the movements we've made, we've "gone up" higher, as the castle generally doesn't have stairs due to the change in space.

Sometimes you just go up a floor without even realizing you've climbed. But I know this part is located on the upper floors of the castle.

"I'm not sure, I normally don't come to this place," Valac says as I open the door and see the room. There are many papers and books, and of course, with my curiosity, I start rummaging through everything.

I only read the covers of the books, and when the book doesn't have a cover, I read the beginning. But I soon just throw them on the floor and move on to the next one, as a way to speed up the process of searching for something valuable among the pile of papers and books that I don't understand because they're too complex.

"Aren't you going to read?" Valac asks as he sees me just randomly throwing books around after briefly observing them. He must not be understanding my actions very well, as it seems like a waste of time or a lack of interest.

"No, it's not that, bro. It's just that there's no point in reading this," I know exactly what I'm looking for, and as such, everything else is completely useless to me, and since none of this is useful, I have no reason to read it.

I just look for and see what the book is like and what's written in the initial chapter or on the cover of the book. Of course, there are many books with magical knowledge, and that's cool, but I can't even use anything beyond healing, and I'm too stupid to understand the concepts behind what's written.

After all, it seems that all these books are about advanced magic, which is logical since we're talking about Aurora, and she doesn't use basic magic, in addition to using very complicated concepts for me to understand.

"Hey, look, it's you, bro," I show the papers to Valac. These are papers that talk about Valac's formation and what Aurora expected to achieve with him, basically showing how Aurora doesn't see any value in him now.

They're like little pieces of Aurora's dreams accumulated in pages that only hide how terribly controlling and perfectionistic she can be.

"..." He just briefly looks at the papers and doesn't care much.

'Wait...' I find something interesting. The books may be useless since they're just complex knowledge that I wouldn't understand, but the papers are easier to understand.

"Valac, do you like sweets?" I ask as I read here that Valac really likes sweets and that it was a modification made to facilitate his creation in childhood.

"Yes, I do," He agrees without much interest in my question in general, seems he doesn't like this place much.

'...'

"Do you prefer extremely sweet and generally cold things?"

"Yes, sister, those are my preferences," He responds with some interest in my quite assertive questions at the moment.

'Is this... really possible?' I wonder, reading these papers.

"Bro, be honest, would you happen to be afraid of... Sphinxes?" I don't even know what that is, but if he really is afraid of it, then these papers are worth a lot to me, being one of the best things I've found so far!

"...Haa... yes, I've been afraid of them since I can remember," When he says this, I quickly try to read as much as I can, in case he wants to stop me from reading these papers.

"Bro, have you already read the papers on this floor? Or didn't you read them because they're from your mother?" This question is very important, directly addressing the fact that Aurora is his mother, which is something he avoids.

"I didn't read them, after all, they're her personal things," When Valac says this, he just confirms that this area is Aurora's personal research area and, as such, a possible area with few traps and no monsters, so as not to risk having the things destroyed.

These papers literally have something that can change all my interactions with the 7, and besides that, they have something that shows how terrible and controlling Aurora is.

The papers show descriptions and notes about the extreme control of everything that Aurora has modified in them, that is, what they like, what they're afraid of, what they can or can't do.

Literally every aspect that makes them up was previously altered or modified to be what she wanted, and it seems to be fully functional, according to Valac's responses.

"Bro, can we go to another room?" After fully reading the paper, I throw it on the floor as if it weren't interesting and ask to go to more rooms, it seems Aurora changed rooms for each experiment.

The papers here only inform about Valac, and since I don't forget things in general, I just read what was written and memorized it quickly. I want to know more about the others, as that will make everything much easier.

"Bro, this place is very dusty and even has some insects, don't you guys take care of this area?"

"No, no one comes or messes with this place since it's a bit too special to be casually modified or tampered with."

"So why are you letting me stay here?"

"I wonder that too, why would that be?" He speaks as if he really doesn't know.

'Probably it's Aurora's fault, she must be doing this since if all the papers are right, she defined well what they can and can't do.' She is truly a terrible person.

Controlling the lives of others as if they were toys, and if she can do that, but still let them be horrible and malicious beings, it just shows how little she cares about life or the suffering of others.

Of course, I'm not exempt from this, I hope she hasn't messed with my mind or anything like that, it would be terrible and I wouldn't even know she did something.

Since I've already seen what was interesting in this room, I'll go to another one in search of more information, so I enter the nearest room and, as expected, it's full of books and papers.

Ignoring the books, I look through the papers for what can be most useful to me, and soon I find a description of who it is.

"..." Beelzebub is the name on the paper, showing that these are the records of the modifications made to him, and just like Valac, Aurora has messed with Beelzebub's mind and brain, altering what she wanted.

'Beelzebub is afraid of the ocean...' What an inefficient fear, it's not like there's an ocean right here in the castle, so there's not much I can do to have an advantage over Beelzebub's fear.

And of course, like Beelzebub's personal tastes, most of them are disgusting, which doesn't help much, but there are other interesting pieces of information, such as the age his race reaches at most before death.

"Bro, is Beelzebub dying?" The most interesting information here is the lifespan of Beelzebub's race, which, following this logic in the paper, has ended, and as such, Beelzebub is extending his lifespan by stealing from others.

"..." Valac doesn't answer, but I'll take that as a yes. I see Valac curiously looking at the papers to see what's catching my attention so much, but I don't care about trying to prevent him from seeing this.

The more I try, the more alert he'll be, after all, even though I know his fears, it doesn't help me at all when I'm much weaker and not too smart.

However, I don't want to use their fears against them, I want to use this to gain affection. In the end, since I'm weak, all I can do is have one of them like me excessively and obtain advantages from that and the benefits that come with it.

"Bro, can we take a break? I want a cup of hot chocolate." If he likes sweets, then sweets are the right choice to make.

"A break? You seemed pretty eager to explore."

"Nah, there's nothing that cool, it's much more fun to spend time with you, bro." I have time to explore this place and find more useful papers to help me.

"Let's have some sweets and chat a bit before continuing on to explore this area."
