For a while, only silent remained as Astrid keenly and worriedly observed Liam, who was breathing heavily. There was a trace of blood at the corner of his lips, which was her blood.
"Liam," she called out in a pretty low voice. "Are you fine?"
Liam shot his eyes open and gazed at her blankly before he dragged himself to sit up. "What happened?" He asked, looking around the unfamiliar place.
Astrid did not know what to tell him thus she just guiltily kept quiet. Seeing the confusion on his face deeply cut her heart, knowing it was her fault.
"Is this... your cottage?" Liam questioned shifting back to her, then added. "You've been gone for weeks... I came to check every day but all of you... we're gone. Did something happen? Where... are the children? Are you all fine?"
His endless questions broke Astrid and she instantly started apologising. "Liam, I don't know what to say for you to forgive me... I... it's all my fault. I ruined your... life. I'm really sorry."
