Jared's POV
The night was colder than I expected, or maybe it was just me. My nerves felt frayed, my heartbeat loud in my ears as I stood outside the house. The wind whispered through the trees, but all I could hear was the sound of my own breathing. Zina and Asher were in there, and I had no idea what Xaden was capable of now. He was already unhinged.
I clenched my fists and stared at the house. I needed to find a way in—fast. But rushing in blindly would only get me caught. My eyes scanned the windows for any movement, any sign of them. The muffled voices from inside were too faint to make out, and it was driving me insane. Every second that passed felt like an eternity. I couldn't just stand here.
