Chapter 20 - [20] The New Moon

A/N: Hey, Shonpufi Here.

So I will be posting at least two chapters a week until part one finishes, I think on Tuesdays, Fridays or Sundays. I could probably pump out three, but the quality would drop significantly, which is something I don't want to do.

Anyways, enjoy the chapters

-3rd POV-

"No civilization so far, if there even is one..." Meliodas muttered as he inspected the ground from high up in the sky. It's been a hot minute since Meliodas ran from the cave with the eggs.

Of course, he didn't run away on foot, but by [Bahamut's] wings.

Now, he's searching for civilization so that he can stock up on supplies. He had a lot of them in his system storage, but not enough for three months.

The problem was that, so far, he hadn't been able to find anyone, not a single soul. He was sure as hell that there should be human beings in the era before Morax was born, but not as sure if they were...civilized.

"..."

"This feels nice" Meliodas said as he flew through the sky. Thinking about it, this was the first time he had flown without fighting or having to worry about something attacking him.

"...God damnit, I jinxed myself, didn't I?"

-Meliodas POV-

As I wondered how badly I had jinxed myself, I suddenly saw a figure flying toward me.

Squinting my eyes, I saw...a bird? no, a crane? It was a pure white crane with blue tips along its feathers and beak.

But the weird thing is that it keeps getting faster and faster and going straight at me. Seeing that it was going so fast, I moved to the side so it wouldn't crash with into me.

"???"

Huh?

*Bird Locking On Target*

The crane moved where I moved, heading straight at me again from behind.

Is the crane dumb or something?

[The bird knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't by subtracting where it is from where it isn't] The system suddenly spoke.

'Da fuck?' I thought in confusion.

"co-h-"

"Huh? Is it squawking or something?" I wondered as I saw it make some noise in the distance. But as it finally got close, I could hear its words clearly.

Wait, words?

"COME HERE BOY!" the crane shouted with anger. I could see the veins in its long neck popping in frustration.

What the hell! is it an Adeptus or something?

I stopped in my tracks, my wings helping me hover.

As the bird finally reached me, it stopped moving and hovered midair like I was. The crane looked at me for a few seconds, eyeing me up and down for a few seconds.

I don't know why it looked at me that way, but its eyes widened at me after inspecting me, almost as if it had seen the most shocking thing it had ever seen in its entire life.

"You're human but a dragon at the same time? and that humanity of yours, it's barely hanging on by a thread yet complete at the same time." It spoke.

Chills went down my spine as I realized what it was speaking of. Quincys are human at their core, but of course, they will always be more than that—a mere human, especially myself, since I'm the King of Quincys.

"And you're not even half and half, you're pure in both lineages..." It studied me further, creeping the fuck out of me.

I'm guessing that it's reading my spiritual pressure. Certain races give specific patterns of spiritual pressure, thus she probably knew that I was a dragon (via Bahamut's power) and human-ish.

"Stop the yapping, who are you?" I asked, my guard up.

I could sense her spiritual pressure as well; she was strong, very much so.

"Oh? Ah, yes..." She realized that her thought might have deviated from her original purpose.

"You have those dragon eggs, don't you?"

"...No?" Yes, I do.

It squinted at me, inspecting my expression, "Lies!"

I could sense it, her spiritual energy revolving around its wings, enhancing every feather and strengthening them.

Shit!

-3rd POV-

As the terrifying aura surrounded the crane, she opens and closed her wings swiftly, sending out a barrage of spiritual energy enhanced feathers hurling at Meliodas.

Seeing the simple yet verifying attack coming towards him, Meliodas reached his waist to draw his sword...yet nothing was there.

"The hell?" Meliodas said in confusion.

[Host, you left the "Time Piercing Sword" in your hotel room in the future]

'Ah, fuck' seeing how his trusty sword was WAY out of reach, he reached behind his waist and pulled out [Lostvayne].

[Full Counter!!!]

Swinging his short sword, perfectly connecting with the enhanced feathers, the attack stopped midair for a microsecond before being sent back to the crane with twice the power and twice the speed.

The crane wasn't able to react to the attack due to the surprise of having her attack sent back to her.

*BOOOM!*

A shockwave resonated through the open air.

"Did I get it?" Meliodas wondered as the explosion had concealed the crane's figure.

*WHOOSH!*

His eyes widened as the crane teleported behind him. "Behin-!" Meliodas couldn't react to the counter from the crane as it flew at him at immense speed, sending him crashing to the floor.

*BOOOM*

"Fuc- *Cough* damnit!" Meliodas groaned in pain, coughing out blood as he got himself out of the little crater he made when he crashed down into the ground.

As Meliodas was unlodging his ass from the hole in the ground, the oversized chicken hovered over him and spoke "This one shall ask once again, did you take those eggs?" she threatened in a cold tone.

Meliodas didn't say a word; he merely raised his hand and gave her the middle finger.

"Impudent...!" It said in anger.

Oh? So they do have the middle finger here in this era!

Meliodas looked at the crane, whose anger was rising every passing second.

"Let's get this over with, you oversized bir-"

"Let us postpone this fight."

"Nani?" Meliodas, in utter confusion, spoke.

He expected the crane to say many things to him, but wanting peace after attacking him first wasn't one option he thought would happen.
