Chapter 359 - Chapter 359: The Poison Master's Abode

The Little Fairy Doctor looked at Mu Chen in astonishment, recalling the scene that had unfolded at the Ten Thousand Medicines Shop just two days prior. To this day, she couldn't fathom what kind of poison or method could instantly reduce a person to a cloud of blood mist.

She asked herself honestly, and at the very least, she believed she couldn't achieve such a feat.

The Little Fairy Doctor and Mu Chen descended together, guided by the bright moonlight, and eventually landed on a protruding rock. Only a small part of the rock was exposed on the cliff face, barely enough for the two of them to stand on.

The entrance to the cave wasn't wide, just enough for two people to pass through side by side. Inside, it was pitch dark, with faint glimmers of light emanating from within, giving it an air of mystery. Around the entrance, there were numerous knife-like marks. Such markings usually indicated that the master of the abode had either left secret signs or was counting the days they had spent here.

"Let's go in together. I hope it doesn't disappoint us," the Little Fairy Doctor said with a faint smile, pointing into the dark, shadowy cave. Her meaning was clear: Mu Chen would go first. Typically, this wasn't because the Little Fairy Doctor was afraid of the dark or feared that Mu Chen might harm her if he went ahead. It was more about being cautious of potential traps inside the cave. Having someone lead the way was undoubtedly a good thing.

Mu Chen chuckled, his sharp eyes already piercing through the Little Fairy Doctor's thoughts. After all, he was dealing with the Little Fairy Doctor, so he didn't mind. He took a step forward and entered the cave.

As they walked through the quiet, dark cave, a faint chill surrounded them. In the silent passage, only the soft footsteps of the two could be heard.

Upon entering the cave, the Little Fairy Doctor's eager heart for treasure hunting began to cool down. She instinctively wrapped her arms around herself. Seeing Mu Chen ahead, she quickened her pace to catch up. In the face of the unknown cave, the Little Fairy Doctor felt a greater sense of security only when she was by Mu Chen's side.

Suddenly, Mu Chen stopped in his tracks.

"Ah!"

The Little Fairy Doctor had been following Mu Chen too closely and couldn't stop in time, bumping into his back. Under the pressure, her soft, perky chest was instantly compressed into two small, soft orbs.

The intimate contact caused a blush to spread across the Little Fairy Doctor's face as she snapped, "What are you doing?"

"Ahem."

Mu Chen cleared his throat. With a soul realm that was over a hundred levels higher, he could naturally feel the soft contact clearly. He pointed ahead at a stone gate emitting a faint yellow light and replied helplessly, "We've hit a dead end."

Hearing this, the Little Fairy Doctor craned her neck to look ahead and indeed saw a stone gate blocking their path. She furrowed her delicate brows and said, "This stone gate looks quite thick. I've heard from old mercenaries that stone gates that emit light are almost always booby-trapped. I don't know the first thing about traps. What should we do now?"

"Simple! We just break it," Mu Chen replied.

"Break it?" The Little Fairy Doctor's eyes filled with confusion.

"Mm," Mu Chen nodded. With a wave of his hand, a surge of energy, like a roaring tidal wave, struck the stone gate glowing with yellow light.

Boom!

A dull, resonant sound echoed as the sturdy stone gate shattered into pieces.

The Little Fairy Doctor wasn't surprised anymore. Being around Mu Chen, it would be shocking if he displayed anything ordinary.

"Let's go in," Mu Chen said nonchalantly.

Though Mu Chen had done something extraordinary, to him, it was nothing special. After all, he was no ordinary man, and the things he did were naturally extraordinary.

"Wait," the Little Fairy Doctor stretched out her hand to stop Mu Chen. She picked up a few stones from the ground and threw them forcefully into the stone gate. Seeing no reaction, she finally said, "Let's go in now."

"You really are a cautious one," Mu Chen shook his head helplessly.

"Thank you for the compliment," the Little Fairy Doctor replied indifferently, smiling faintly as she carefully stepped into the stone gate.

Observing her actions, Mu Chen followed closely behind.

As they stepped through the stone gate, their field of vision expanded.

Inside the stone gate was a massive stone chamber, simple and spacious. The walls were embedded with moonlight stones for illumination. In the center of the chamber stood a chair, upon which sat a skeleton.

It was nighttime, and being in such an unfamiliar place, the appearance of the skeleton added an eerie atmosphere.

In front of the chair, three stone platforms were lined up in a row. Each platform held a stone box, locked securely. On one side of the stone wall, a pile of glittering gold coins was stacked. A rough estimate suggested there were at least several hundred thousand coins.

Mu Chen's gaze continued to move, and in one corner, he noticed a small flower bed. Inside, a variety of medicinal herbs were planted, their strange fragrance permeating the entire cave.

"Purple-blue leaves, Hundred Spirit Ginseng Fruit, Snow Lotus Seeds..."

The names of these rare medicinal herbs spilled from the Little Fairy Doctor's lips as she stood beside Mu Chen.

Among those herbs was also the Ice Flame Grass, which was used to refine the Strange Fire.

"Ding!"

"Congratulations! You have signed in at the Poison Master's Abode with the Little Fairy Doctor. Reward: 5,000,000 points of Dou Qi. Reward: 5,000 Skill Points."

Perhaps because this sign-in task was too easy, Mu Chen only received rewards in the form of Dou Qi and Skill Points.

"Ding!"

"Congratulations! Your Dou Qi has reached full capacity and you have leveled up. Current level: 82 (Second-Rank Battle Venerate)."

Even though it was only a reward of five million points of Dou Qi, it still allowed Mu Chen's cultivation level to rise by one small rank.

"Ding!"

"The system has issued a new sign-in task. Please sign in at the cave of the Amethyst Winged Lion King."

The Little Fairy Doctor walked over to the flower bed, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "Since we both found them, let's split these herbs equally. What do you think?"

"No need for that. You can have them all. To be honest, in my eyes, these things are no different from weeds," Mu Chen said indifferently.

"Do you have to brag?" The Little Fairy Doctor rolled her eyes at Mu Chen, but then looked at the rare herbs in front of her and said, "Still, thank you. For certain reasons, these rare herbs are very important to me."

Certain reasons?

What else could it be? Naturally, she needed these herbs to concoct poisons and enhance her own cultivation.

"We're friends, right?" Mu Chen asked.

"Of course," the Little Fairy Doctor replied with a smile.

"Since we're friends, can you put away the poison powder in your left hand?" Mu Chen's tone was calm as he glanced at the handful of poison powder the Little Fairy Doctor was clutching in her left hand.

It had to be said, the Little Fairy Doctor was an extremely cautious person. Otherwise, she wouldn't have survived in the Poison Master-filled Chu Yun Empire and carved out a place for herself.
