The next morning came, and Granny Lu had already steamed the lotus leaf pancakes and fried the vegetables, all placed in separate basins. They also bought some crispy rice squares. The plastic bags were ready as well.
It was September and the weather wasn't particularly hot, nor was it cold. So it was still light out when the students went to school in the morning.
There was a big sign with the words "Lotus Leaf Pancake" hanging at their doorstep, written by Qin Xiangnuan. Her handwriting was exquisite. Underneath the big letters were smaller ones listing the prices, "Tea-flavored vegetables 20 cents, meat-filled lotus leaf pancake 25 cents", the same prices as those set at the bus station.
It wasn't long after they had set up their stall that customers started to arrive.
"When did a food vendor pop up here? Perfect timing, I've been hungry for almost a year now. Finally, there's a place to buy food. Give me one."
