"What is that?"
Karna didn't expect his enemy to answer, it was just a question that he couldn't help but say out loud in completely innocent confusion. That object, or thing, or... whatever it was, was pitch black, safe for red lines that shined as brightly as the first instants of creation.
"I hate using this, or more like she doesn't like me... she's arrogant and moody... and a real sleepyhead... she never wants to put any effort into things she considers beneath her... in any case, I don't want you to think that I don't consider you a great person just because she doesn't give its all."
"No offense taken. Now let's get back to business, I'm not giving you any more time."
"As expected, the poison wasn't enough... fine, let's do this, Ea."
Galter extended his hand toward the flowing mass and it instantly took the shape of a classic longsword with a black handle. Karna charged forward with his spear covered in flames. Galter avoided the initial thrust and moved in for a strike. Karna pulled back to defend himself.
Even though he couldn't completely exit the sword's range, he wasn't worried. After all, no matter how strong, a sword swing wouldn't harm him severely due to his armour. That's why shock coloured his face when he felt a sharp pain and saw blood spilling out of him.
He retreated, still puzzled by what had just happened, however, suspecting a trap, he slashed at the ground. Sure enough, a mine went out behind him. Without moving his gaze from the ground, he ducked down and avoided another grenade flying his way from the side.
"He's starting to adapt to my fighting style... in that case... I'll give him something new."
Twisting Ea's handle, the blade started morphing, mutating, reassembling until it could no longer be called a sword. The mass of pure power formed the tip of a spear, and Galter extended the handle until it closely resembled a stick. In less than a second, his sword had become a spear. He launched it right where Karna was about to stand.
Seeing this, the Hero of Charity was ready to block it with his own spear. However, the feedback his body awaited, the pressure from the blow never came. Realising something was wrong, Karna tried moving away as quickly as possible, managing to avoid any injury apart from a shallow cut on his side. Jumping in the air, Karna prepared a counter-attack.
"Bhramastra Kundala!"
Taking a machine gun from his treasury, Galter shot many A-rank Noble Phantasms. However, none of them clashed against the flaming spear. Instead, the strange mass of what appeared as nothingness reappeared into his hands, this time taking the form of a shield.
Bhramastra exploded on the ground, however, something was amiss. Despite following the intended trajectory, the King of Heroes was unharmed. Before he could even reflect on what was going on, four portals surrounded him and out of them the bullets from before came out, throwing him off balance.
Refusing to give in, Karna released an all-out burst of mana while Galter charged at him with the shield turned into a scythe. Noticing this, Galter slashed the air, generating a red slash. Karna figured it was a mana blade, so he calculated its movement and speed and prepared to dodge it. In spite of this, he couldn't avoid it completely.
"Right now, I imagine you're very confused. Believe me, it would be a great pleasure for me to clear your doubts, but you're not an opponent on whom I can afford to go easy. Anyway, I think that spamming all these mana-consuming attacks has depleted you severely. I even hazard that you've got just enough gas for one more attack. To be honest with you, I'm in the same boat, so how about we settle this? Looks like someone had the same idea..."
Galter commented as he saw a red flash competing with what could only be described as pure destruction and slashing it in half.
"... you're right. A great king like you deserves my full attention and therefore, my full power. It's been a pleasure, King of Heroes. My name is Karna, the Hero of Charity, and with my next move I'll bring the Sun down on this world. If you can block it, then you truly are worthy of your title!"
"I'm Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes. And this is my strongest attack."
Karna floated into the sky, his spear back in his hands, and his armour starting burning, along with the rest of everything. The heat of a star hovered just above the Earth, threatening to burn it down to ash. Releasing it, Karna called out the name of that undefeatable attack, Indra's ultimate weapon.
"Feel the mercy of the King of Gods,
You will be destroyed with this one strike...
Watch, Indra!
I will burn it all!
VASAVI SHAKTI - O' Sun, Abide to Death"
Galter grabbed on of his best bows and, wielding that cursed miracle once more, turned it into something he could use: an arrow. Then, bending his weapon as much as he could, his power rippled throughout the ground, as the segments of the projectile he was about to shoot started spinning around faster and faster.
"Gods, tremble before my power
Man shall trample your everlasting reign.
Humans, let us dream of a new world
and destroy the old.
Sing of creation and destruction.
Sing of Man and his King.
Sing of the End and of a New Beginning.
Sing of Life! Sing and bring Hope
ENUMA ELISH - The Star that freed Man from Death"
What can block a sun? Nothing, nothing in this world can hope to accomplish such a feat. The only solution is to create another world to be destroyed in stead of ours. At least, that's what Karna thought, a split second before impact.
There was one scenario he didn't account for. And that's exactly what happened. There was no moment of impact. There was no point of impact. There was no impact. It never happened. It should have, but it was simply... erased. That moment was erased. That point was erased. An entire portion of spacetime was completely removed. It was as if it had never existed. And maybe it didn't. Regardless, Karna's spear suddenly went from being in midair to comfortably waiting for its master, lodged in the ground. And Galter's arrow instantly went from clashing against it to being lodged into Karna's chest.
"It stopped my attack... so you really were capable... of blocking it... King of Heroes..."
Karna chuckled as he crashed down from the Heavens.
"No, Hero of Charity. I didn't block it. I simply removed the space and the time in which it existed from this reality. Ea can cut right through the fabric of reality, slipping between places and moments. To defy order. That's what humans do. And as their King, as their guide, that's what I must do, and what I do best. You were fated to win. You were fated to defeat me because your attack was fated to land. But that's the thing with humans... they defy fate."
