These five were—
Wuu "Qilin Contender" Xu Guang, immensely wealthy, accomplished in both letters and martial arts, charitable and unrivaled in righteousness.
San "Jin Judge" Wang Zou, extraordinary in wisdom and strategy, eloquent and sagacious, with exceptional insight.
San "Evil-Slaying Butcher" Zou Ben, strong as an ox, fierce as a tiger, clear in love and hate, always putting righteousness first.
San "Swallow of Shu" Ning Zhao, unparalleled in Qinggong, heroic and gallant, punishing evil and eliminating corruption, a paragon among women.
San "Jade-faced Gentleman" Yang Bian, gentle and refined, suavely handsome, supremely intelligent, detesting evil as if it were his foe.
Originally, these five were wandering martial heroes, each fighting their own battles, unknown to each other until a chance encounter brought them together in Chengdu.
