The room was bathed in soft moonlight, casting gentle shadows over the wooden floor. Aira and Ito lay curled up on the futon Yoru had set up for them, their quiet breaths filling the silence of the night. Aira's small hands clutched onto the blanket, her ears twitching slightly in her sleep. Beside her, Ito lay sprawled on his stomach, his tail lazily flicking once before going still.
Yoru and Rina sat side by side against the wall, their shoulders barely touching as they watched the two peacefully sleeping. A serene silence hung between them, one that neither of them felt the need to break just yet.
Rina hugged her knees to her chest, resting her chin atop them. "They look so peaceful like this," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Yeah," Yoru agreed, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Hard to believe they were causing trouble just a few hours ago."
