Chapter 285 - The Maid Gabriel

Healing Angel: "I can't take it anymore. If this continues, I'm really going to be killed by Vignette."

At night, as soon as Shin logged into the game, he saw Gabriel making some wild statements. Even through the screen, he could almost feel Gabriel's despair.

Of course, Vignette, being a kind-hearted demon, wouldn't actually kill Gabriel. But for Gabriel, not being able to play games might as well be the same as being killed.

Zuke: "Did she force you to work again?"

Shin was actually quite amused by this—just a couple of days ago, when Gabriel and Vignette were visiting his home, Vignette had complained about Gabriel multiple times.

Although, because there were many "ordinary people" sitting in the living room, Vignette didn't mention how significant the First Horn of Apocalypse that Gabriel had sold was. But she still managed to let everyone know about Gabriel's actions.

So, after returning home, Gabriel was once again subjected to Vignette's mental attacks—she lectured Gabriel like a nagging monk, giving Gabriel a massive headache.

Even at school, Gabriel couldn't escape Vignette's lectures. Even the other two companions, Raphael and Satania, felt a bit sorry for Gabriel.

Of course, being treated this way by Vignette was entirely Gabriel's own fault.

Healing Angel: "If this keeps up, I really won't have any time to play games anymore! As my teammate, are you just going to stand by and watch!?"

Gabriel's typing speed was much faster than usual, clearly showing how desperate she was. She even tried to use their in-game camaraderie to pressure Shin.

But who was Shin? He could pressure others, but no one could pressure him.

Zuke: "No problem. With my skills and upgraded equipment, finding new teammates is a piece of cake."

That's right. Shin's skills were top-notch, and after spending a lot of money on in-game purchases, his account was now among the elite in the game.

Although his account had only reached its full potential a few days ago, Shin had already made a name for himself. Many high-level players in the game had approached him, inviting him to join their teams.

The fact that he was still sticking with Gabriel showed how much he valued their teammate bond.

Healing Angel: "Damn it, is there really no way out?"

Gabriel realized her threat had failed and let out a groan of despair—was she really going to have to work intensively on weekends with no time to play games?

"Is this 'Healing Angel' that girl named Gabriel?"

Just then, Tohru appeared behind Shin—she was holding a change of clothes, clearly planning to take a bath.

As for why she appeared behind Shin with her clothes... it was probably because Tohru was planning to invite Shin to join her in the bath.

Although Tohru had finally learned some normal maid etiquette, the "knowledge" she had picked up from online comics seemed to have stuck with her.

So even now, Tohru would occasionally do things that only maids in those comics would do.

Although, as Tohru's master, Shin was undoubtedly the beneficiary in this situation.

But when she came to invite Shin to bathe, Tohru noticed the private chat window on the game screen and immediately recognized that "Healing Angel" as Gabriel.

Tohru had been quite impressed by Gabriel when she visited Shin's home a couple of days ago.

"It's her. Why? Are you curious about Gabriel?"

Shin glanced back at Tohru, somewhat surprised—Tohru was actually curious about someone other than him?

Oh wait, Gabriel wasn't human... So maybe Tohru had sensed something special about Gabriel?

After all, Tohru was a dragon from another world. It was possible she could sense things that ordinary people couldn't.

"Well, a little..."

Tohru smiled sheepishly—she remembered Gabriel because Gabriel had been unaffected by her cognitive confusion magic.

When Tohru cast her cognitive confusion spell, ordinary people would completely ignore the dragon horns on her head and the dragon tail behind her. But Gabriel hadn't been affected at all.

She hadn't even noticed that Tohru had used magic, which made Tohru very curious.

"Since she seems to be in need of money, why don't you hire her as a maid, Shin-kun? Working for you would probably be better than working somewhere else, right?"

Perhaps out of curiosity about Gabriel, Tohru thought for a moment and then suddenly made this suggestion.

As Shin's head maid, Tohru did have the authority to arrange the maids, whether it was recruiting new ones or firing disobedient ones.

But obviously, Tohru didn't want anyone else to take her place by Shin's side, so she hadn't recruited any new maids during this time.

If it weren't for the fact that such a large house really needed more maids to clean, Tohru might have even fired all the maids arranged by the Shinomiya family, leaving only herself to monopolize Shin.

So for the usually jealous Tohru to suggest hiring someone as a maid was quite shocking to Shin.

"Are you sure?"

Shin didn't mind inviting Gabriel to be a maid. After all, she kept skipping her shifts at the café. It might be better for her to change jobs.

At the very least, Shin could pay Gabriel more than the café, and working for a friend like him might give her a bit more motivation.

"Yeah, it's up to you, Shin-kun."

Tohru nodded. Although she was a bit worried that Gabriel might try to steal Shin's attention, she was also genuinely curious about Gabriel's background.

Rather than speculating at home, it would be better to have Gabriel come work here. That way, as the head maid, Tohru could investigate her background.

Since Tohru had said so, Shin naturally didn't refuse and immediately sent Gabriel a private message in the game.

Zuke: "So, want to come work as a maid at my place? I can pay you a really good salary."

Right now, Shin had no shortage of money, and Gabriel was in desperate need of it. This bait was too tempting for Gabriel to resist.

Healing Angel: "Really? You said it! No take-backs!"

Sure enough, Gabriel agreed almost without hesitation.

She had seen how rich Shin was—he could casually spend on the highest-level equipment upgrades.

Such a golden opportunity was something Gabriel had to cling to tightly!

Buying Gabriel's First Horn of Apocalypse and then having her work as a maid—Shin really wasn't letting any of Gabriel's value go to waste.
