I stab my spear through the last centipede's faceplate—right between the beady cluster of its eyes—until the tip crunches into stone. The thing gives one last twitch before finally stilling. It's heavier than I expect as I yank the spear back, the weight dragging through thick, gooey ichor. The blade gleams wet and dark, flecks of it dotting my clothes and face.

Honestly, I've gotten used to this.
The dungeons aren't terrifying anymore. At first, sure, I wanted to scream and run. But something shifted. Maybe it was muscle memory kicking in from all those years at the academy.
