Two weeks later, at the main gate of Konoha;
"You have all you need, right?" Tsunade asked, hands on her son's shoulders, while Shizune stood a bit away behind her, carrying Mito, giving the mother and son a bit of privacy.
"Yeah, mum. I have everything." Naruto replied
"Did you put on the colored contact lenses you asked for?" Tsunade asked with a quiet tone so only Naruto could hear.
"Yeah, I have then on right now. Thanks again for getting them for me." Naruto said with the same quiet tone.
He had asked his mother about a week ago for a pair of colored eye lens for him to disguise his eyes whenever he activated the sharingan. It took some time for Tsunade to get it as her son's eye color is very rare, and she was looking for lenses that didn't show the real eye color underneath.
"Don't forget to always tell me how you are doing regularly." Tsunade said
"I will, mum. We both can summon Lady Katsuyu." Naruto said with a slight smile.
Flashback, around a week and a half ago;
"Kuchiyose no jutsu. 'Summoning jutsu'"
Naruto stood near his mother while she performed the jutsu, making a wolf-sized version of Katsuyu appear.
"Hello, Tsunade-sama. How can I help you today?" Katsuyu said
"Hello, Katsuyu. I want to talk to you about getting a summoning contract for my son, Naruto." Tsunade said.
"You already have my summoning scroll for my contract with you. I would love to have Naruto-kun as my summoner." Katsuyu said
"While I would be honored to be your summoner, Katsuyu-sama. I don't think you are a compatible summoning animal for me." Naruto said
"Why is that, Naruto-kun?" Katsuya asked
"Well, you are very compatible with my mother as she is primarily a medical ninja. Me on the other hand, I skill sets branch out to Taijutsu, Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Kenjutsu, Fuinjutsu, and Medical Ninjutsu. That is why I said that you may not be compatible with me." Naruto said.
"If that is the case, I can have you sign the Shikkotsu Forest summons scroll." Katsuya said, surprising both mother and son.
"But aren't my grandmother and I the holders of that scroll?" asked Tsunade.
"No, you and Mito-sama are the holders of my exclusive summoning contract. The Other animals in the Shikkotsu forest and I have a contract that is shared between all of us." Katsuyu said
"There are other animals in the Shikkotsu forest?" Tsunade asked in wonder
"Of course, there are many other animals and mythical creatures all with different sizes. If you want to summon them, you will have to get their clan leader's acknowledgment before you can summon them regularly." Katsuyu said
"You think this is the best option, Katsuyu-sama?" Naruto asked
"Yes, it is. You get to be my summoner, and at the same time, you will get to find other summons that can help you with your other skills." Katsuyu said, drawing a smile on the mother's and son's faces.
"Then I would like to sign that contract, please." Naruto said with a slight bow, getting a nod in return from Katsuyu.
"Ok then, give me a second to go and get it." Katsuyu said before disappearing in a puff of smoke.
"At the end, you and I are going to have access to the same summoning animal. This is great." Tsunade said with a big smile, making Naruto smile too.
A puff of smoke appeared, and when it dissipated, Katsuyu could be seen with a large scroll with her.
"Here you go, you can sign it now. You just need to use your blood to write your name and leave a print of your palm." Katsuyu said, getting a nod from Naruto.
As Naruto opened the scroll, he was surprised to find it empty of any names.
"Why are there no names here?" Naruto asked
"You are the first to sign this contract. Usually, first-time summoners use the summoning jutsu to go to the summoning realm of the most suitable animal for them. In the case of this contract, it is a contract that includes all the summon clans in the Shikkotsu forest. So, we all agreed that whoever signs this contract must not have any other contract signed previously, and they must be acknowledged by at least one summoning animal, which I already did." Katsuyu explained, getting a nod of understanding from Tsunade and Naruto.
"I am very thankful to you for that." Naruto said with a smile as he took out a kunai to sign the contract.
Biting the tip of his finger won't draw enough blood to sign his name and leave a full palm print.
Flashback end;
For now, Naruto can only summon Katsuyu. But after the Chunin exams, He will have time to see what another summons the contract has to offer. Maybe even visit the Shikkotsu forest.
"If things become ugly, make sure to call Katsuyu to reverse-summon you. Don't put yourself in unnecessary danger." Tsunade emphasized, getting a nod from Naruto.
Tsunade reached for her neck and took off her necklace before putting it around Naruto's neck.
As the necklace rested on Naruto's neck, it gave a sudden glow of a pleasant green color before it returned to normal, but it seemed to have a more vibrant color and sparkle than before.
Seeing this, Tsunade smiled widely but with a sad undertone before saying: "You really are its intended recipient, Naru. From the looks of it, it seems to be your lucky charm."
Naruto held the blueish green gemstone hanging around his neck and looked at it with wonder before saying: "You are going to give it to me, mum? Isn't it something precious to you?"
"Nothing is more precious to me than you, Naruto. This necklace was your great-grandfather's. Now, I am giving it to you." Tsunade said
"But why do you feel sad while looking at it?" Naruto asked
"I once had given it to Dan and my brother Nawaki after him. Both had the dream of becoming the Hokage, so I gave them the necklace as a good luck charm. They died soon after receiving it, making me think of it as a curse." Tsunade said with a sad smile as she held the gem in her, appreciating the newly increased sparkle it made.
"If it ever held a curse, you seem to have cleansed it, Naru." Tsunade said with a soft smile as she gave her son a soft kiss on his forehead before pulling him into a hug.
"Nothing Grandpa Hashirama gave you is cursed, mum. And don't ever think that a loving gesture from you is the cause of the death of your loved ones. This world isn't forgiving to anyone of us after all." Naruto said with a serious tone as he returned the hug.
Hearing that, Tsunade tightened her hug around him as a couple of tears fell from her eyes.
"Stay safe out there, you hear me?" Tsunade said
"I will, mum. And between you and me, I don't want the Hokage position. Seeing Saru-sensei being the most miserable person in the village behind that desk killed any desire for that position." Naruto whispered that last part, making Tsunade burst out laughing as she broke the hug while drying her face from her tears.
"Hey, guys." A cheerful, young, feminine voice was heard making Tsunade, Naruto, and Shizune look at the source.
Approaching them is a young girl about 12 or 13 years old. She is quite pretty with pupilless brown eyes and slightly short purple hair gathered in a spiked-up ponytail.
"Hey, Anko. Are you ready?" Naruto asked with a grin.
"Of course, I am ready. I am going to show all of Kumo who is going to be the snake mistress." Anko declared with a wide grin.
This is Anko Mitarashi. Naruto's teammate for the Chunin exams.
Naruto met her two weeks ago. Their meeting was a bit awkward at first, but they broke the ice quickly after. They are both treated like outcasts, but they appreciate each other's company.
From dealing with Anko for these two weeks, Naruto could say that she is loud, stubborn, and prone to acting without thinking. But she is overall a nice person, if not a bit quirky.
They got to train together and formulate strategies. Naruto found out that Anko is good at tracking, has a lot of snake-based jutsu, knows a lot about poison, and has a worrying fascination with torture techniques.
Outside of training, they had treated each other to their favorite eating spot. Naruto liked Dango, but Ramen is still better, while Anko is the other way around.
Naruto had previously introduced Anko to his mother, which went fine, but Naruto saw her giving Anko a weird look like when other girls near his age interacted with him. When he asked her about it, she said it is a mother's thing and to not worry about it.
All and all, Naruto is pretty excited to attend the exams with his teammate.
"What about you, Naruto? Ready to show them who is boss?" Anko asked with enthusiasm.
"Of course, they wouldn't know what hit them." Naruto replied with similar energy.
"You are all here. Good." Hiruzen's voice made all present turn to him.
Hiruzen is walking towards them followed by Kakashi Hatake and Might Guy.
"Hello, Saru-sensei. Also, Hello, Guy-sensei and Hatake-san. What are you doing here?" Naruto asked.
"Hello, Naruto-kun. These two will accompany you and young Anko to the Chunin exams." Hiruzen said.
"Hokage-sama allowed me to accompany my First youthful student to his Chunin exams. I am very thankful." Guy said with two streams of tears falling from his eyes, making most of those around him sweat drop.
"Glad to have you along for the journey, Guy-sensei, Hatake-san." Naruto said, making Guy give him a toothy grin with a thumbs up while Kakashi just gave a lazy wave.
Hiruzen looked at Naruto and Anko and said: "Listen, both of you. You both are going to represent Konoha in Kumo alone. Show them what you are made of. Show them and all the other villages that despite everything that happened, Konoha is still strong. Go and make your village and yourselves proud. And make sure to take care of yourselves. Is that understood?"
"Yes, Saru-sensei/ Hokage-sama." Said Naruto and Anko repectivly.
"Good. Have safe Travels, and be sure to return as victors." Hiruzen said with a smile before turning around and walking between Guy and Kakashi.
"Make sure to take care of both of them. Especially Naruto. I don't need to tell you who he is to the village. Outside the parameters of the exam not one hair of him is to be affected. I also permit you to interfere with the exams if Kumo or any other village starts to play dirty. If nothing like that happened, then leave everything for the boy. There is no chunin candidate or even Jonin candidate as strong as him. Is that clear?" Hiruzen whispered.
"Yes, Hokage-sama." Guy and Kakashi whispered back.
"Good." Hiruzen said before leaving.
"We are going to be leaving now. So be ready." Kakashi said with a bored tone before going to the Chunin security booth to sign all of them out.
AS that was happening, Naruto looked at his mother and Shizune who now stood beside his mother and said: "See you later, mum, big sister Shizune. Wish me luck." Before he and Anko followed the two Jonin outside the village.
Tsunade watched as the group disappeared into the trees and muttered: "Come back safely."
At the same time, in the Raikage tower in Kumo;
A dark skinned pale yellow haired man with a massive physique compared to regular Shinobi is seen exercising with a dumbbell while sitting behind the desk.
His surroundings in filled with a large amount of paperwork, but that didn't stop him from exercising.
(You are going to regret that, buddy. Paperwork doesn't like being ignored.)
Knock knock knock.
"Come in." Said The man
"Sorry to interrupt, Raikage-sama. But I think this would intrigue you." Said a shinobi as he entered.
"What is it?" Said the Raikage in an impatient tone.
"We just got confirmation from Konoha that they are joining the Chunin exams." Said the shinobi, making the Raikage stop mid-curl.
"Konoha?" A said with surprise
"Did they say who they are sending?" A asked
"No, Raikage-sama. They only sent conformation of their participation and to expect two Jonin and two Genin to arrive to Kumo." Said the shinobi, making A quiet for a bit.
"Good work. You are dismissed." A said simply after a bit of silence.
After the shinobi left and closed the door behind him, A resumed curling up his dumbbell.
"What game are you playing, Sarutobi?" A muttered
Konoha was hit with an attack from the strongest tailed beast just a couple of months prior. That should keep them busy for a while but low and behold they sent a team to participate in the Chunin exams. Not only that, the team consists on only two Genin escorted by two Jonin meaning that the Genin aren't ordinary.
Only time will conform A's thoughts. Maybe he is just paranoid.
