A dog visits Chelsea.
Chelsea lay in her hospital bed reading a comic—The Adventures of Wes Vol. 13. The main character was battling an evil rat king, and she was getting to the best part. Then an unexpected knock on the door interrupted her. She put the comic down reluctantly.
"Come in," she called.
A woman she didn't recognize popped her head in. "May we intrude for a moment?"
Another head pushed past the woman's legs. Chelsea's face lit up and she gasped.
"A dog!" Chelsea said.
The woman smiled and came in with the dog. "My name is Lacy, and this is Toto. Do you mind if he jumps on your bed?"
Chelsea shook her head, and Toto jumped up. She petted the dog fondly, relishing in the softness of his fur. "What kind of dog is he?" she asked.
"Toto is a Portuguese Water Dog," Lacy answered. "They're hypoallergenic."
"What does hypo… hypo…"
Lacy said, "Hypoallergenic means that even people allergic to dogs can play with Toto."
"That's cool," Chelsea commented. Toto licked her arm, and she giggled.
"We're visiting from the animal shelter," Lacy said, sitting in a guest chair. "Toto has been specially trained to be gentle around people."
"That sounds like a lot of hard work," Chelsea said. In a high voice, she added, "You're a good boy, yes you are!"
The visit lasted only a few minutes, but Chelsea loved every moment with Toto.
