Chapter 17 - I hope you know what you've done because there is no going back (Part III)

We went back to Miami to rest. Ni did have a bullet hole that needed to be treated, blood that needed to be replaced, and we needed some of Lucius resources to make sure our plan worked. Like I said earlier the Secretary of State spends most of her time in the Middle East so Lucius, though he probably didn't like the publicness of our attack, he knew we had to do it to force the SOS back to the West. Ni had been in disguise the whole time so the President wouldn't recognize her even if he passed her in the street. He also knew we would not have easily blend in the Middle East. We may have looked like just some brown people in London but in the Middle East we looked African and that would not have been conducive to our work. So he was satisfied with our progress. But in order for the mission to be completed, so the company could accomplish what he wanted and incidentally to get what we truly wanted, we needed him to get more involved than he initially thought he would have to and that was a risk. A dangerous risk but it was one we needed to take for our ultimate goal. We needed him to make sure every cabinet member was in attendance. To make sure it was a true war council. "Why do they need to be all in attendance Thylonius?" I looked at him with my tired eyes. It had been a rough day with Ni, and I was tired from prepping her and myself but we were going to be ready. I just needed our guardian to not be a dick and we would be fine.

"I need the Secret Service's attention as split as possible. The President was just in a room where multiple assassinations took place. There will be more agents than usual to accommodate all those important people so if I can cloud their focus as much as possible I make the kill as easy as possible." Lucius just looked at me. "More cabinet members equal harder job for them to protect all of them. It'll be easier for me to snipe her. O.K?"

Lucius just looked at me and gave me that smirk I hated "Fine. I'll make sure" And he left. I just shook my head. Soon I told myself. Soon

As much as I knew he disliked doing it, he still came through and every cabinet member was in Washington set to meet and discuss the possibilities of war in the Middle East. So, we made the arrangements and continued with our plan. I scoped out the building in which they were to meet. I expected them to meet at the White House but our reconnaissance suggested that the meeting will be on Capitol Hill. I thought it was strange that a meeting of this importance wouldn't be at that natural fortress especially given its importance. Total information lock-down from that incident probably worked in our favor. They were less paranoid then I thought. They must of thought the assassination attempt had nothing to do with their physical well-being just their interest. Ni handled the materials to which we needed. On my end the building they ended up meeting in was shut down tight and there were no open windows like I thought. So it was going to take more finesse on my part but I had a plan for it. Ni was able to procure everything we needed and we were set. The cabinet meeting was taking place the next day. So we set up conditions like we wanted before the mission and we went our separate ways for a couple of hours to reflect, decompress and focus. I never knew what Ni did. I could only assume. I never told her what I did. She could always assume. I always took a walk around the city. Whichever city we were in. This walk, this particular walk around Washington showed me how beautiful the city was and how rundown the city was. It had a dichotomy that sincerely baffled me. The capital, what is known by its citizens as the most powerful country in the world. Had such a split personality that didn't live up to the symbolism it was supposed to have. It had me thinking about our main goal and how important tomorrow was. How we wouldn't fail how we couldn't fail our purpose, our vision was too great.

It was time. Ni went on her way I went on mine. We set our rendezvous points but there was a wrinkle. There was no radio contact at least not at first. I wasn't going to be in a perch this time and they had signal scramblers in the building so we had to improvise but we were prepared. We always were. Ni was going to be in the room. I was going to be right outside. Well-hidden of course. The meeting started and I waited patiently. Sitting on the roots of a random tree across the street, equipped with a silenced FN five-seven pistol and the book the 'The Alchemist'. For an hour… Two hours...Three. Then I saw a plainly dressed security woman leave the building. Flashing me her familiar smile she did when she killed someone I made my way to the perch. Cnidaria hurried her walking to get as far away as possible making sure not to be too obvious that something was amiss. No sooner had I made it to my perch, I heard the second thing I was waiting for. A Colossal BOOM! as the building went up in flames no doubt due to the bomb we placed in the meeting room. I went to work cutting down anyone who survived the initial blast and made the mistake of trying to run out through the front and side doors. I cut down at least 20 people including the Secretaries of State, Commerce and Defense. All three cabinet members had more will to live than I thought.

"All clear Ni. How are you?"

"Not quite clear yet can you adjust? Could use your help."

"I'll be there in a minute. Set off the second charge if need be."

"Affirmative." As I ran to set up my tripod my sister, who was at the only other exit, was in my sights. I heard a second boom which completely leveled the building. As I set up I saw that she was watching the scene with an emotionless face all the fire and burnt stone dance in her cold eyes. The building had buried the President and his Attorney General. More people trying to escape from the side, all liming and badly burned. She handled it well enough, but she still needed my help for our plan to work. I cut down whomever she didn't kill herself with the explosion and when she signaled clear she went towards the inferno to see if there were any survivors. I couldn't help but think of that first night looking at the flames. I put that out of my mind. That demon was about to get exorcised. When she came out wiping the blood of her knife. I did a quick scan. "Let's Go Ni we have other business tonight."

From the hotel we were staying at, I watched as the emergency services cleared out the rubble. I watched as Americans both cried and yelled at this tragedy. I watched the local, regional, national and world news explode on both sides of the spectrum. As I thought there would be, I had mixed feelings. No matter how you felt about them. They were the country's leaders and this was a huge blow. The largest attack since 9-11 but at the same time. The President and his lackeys had been bordering on tyrannical rule. This was different, this was going to be a lot more influential than a terrorist attack, I saw it the future and I felt the death that would result from this. But that was the path we chose. I left the hotel bar and no sooner had I walked out the door, I felt a Beretta in my side and that familiar unlikeable smell of Lucius. "What took you?" I sneered. He wasn't smiling

"Traffic. Move, take me to your sister." There was bedlam in the streets so no one paid attention to a white man with his hand on a black kid's shoulder.

"I don't know where she…" He rapped the gun against my spine which caused me to take a knee and for him to have to help me up it was smart because it gave the illusion that he was helping a sick kid home and he was able to hide the gun trained on me better.

"Don't play with me Thylonius. You have no idea what you've done."

"You mean crippling your precious company? I had an idea I did that." He hit me again and I laughed. Even though I was hurt and he literally had my life in his hands. I had no fear because I knew I had the upper hand. I could see in his eyes that he didn't understand until…

"Hit him again and I promise you'll never walk again" Lucius froze. Ni had a gun trained on his spine. "Give him to me."

"There's no need. I'm hurt but I can walk." I limped over to her side. She motioned the gun and he started to walk. There was a clearing that I had found that not many people frequented and we knew no one would be there the night of the largest terrorist attack in U.S history. He stood in front of us. Ni had her gun trained on him. All his weapons had been discarded. He was helpless. He gave that smile. That smile that we hated.

"I hope you know what you've done. Because there is no going back" I looked at him.

"Is that all you have to say? As far as final words. That's it?"

He looked at me with a look of surprise, that turned into a sneer. "Fuc…" He was cut off as my sister shot him in the head. We stared into the eyes of our "Guardian" and felt no pity. I planted the Presidential itinerary and the bomb detonation devices on him. I knew they would be looking for more than one body but giving them a villain and a dead one at that would buy us time to burn all trace to the man. Cnidaria looked at him longer than I did. I think she was saying goodbye and in her own hateful manner, goodbye to everything our parents wrought. My parents were no longer my concern. As soon as he died I was free from them. My concern was our goal. Our purpose. "Are you ok?" I asked her as she was still staring at him.

"I'm fine." She turned. "Just saying my goodbyes and making my peace. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have this opportunity. We would still be on the streets in Libya or even more likely we would be dead. I'm grateful to him for taking us in. However, I can't forgive him for destroying my innocence. Using my anger, frustration, and lack of understanding to kill my own blood. Verbally and mentally abusing me for years. He deserved my bullet but also my prayers. In a way I think he knew it would end like this." She closed her eyes for a moment and then opened them again. "What now Ty?"

"We have work to do sis. But first let's get you to London." I gave her a small smile which she returned. Then we left that place. Turning our back on the past and looking toward our blood-stained future.
