Konoha.
Inside Rin's home.
The warm sunlight streamed through the window, casting a golden glow over the sleeping girl's delicate figure. At this moment, Rin looked as if she were draped in a robe woven from sunlight.
Outside, gentle waves rippled under the morning light, creating a picturesque scene.
"Rin-chan…" Obito murmured softly.
Lying beside her, he gazed at his sleeping lover, a blissful smile playing at his lips.
Of course, it wasn't just the corners of his mouth that were raised—his eyebrows had also lifted in delight.
Silently, Obito slipped out of bed and left the room, heading toward the kitchen.
"Well then, before Rin-chan wakes up, I'll prepare breakfast for her!"
Tying on an apron, he heated up the pan, only for a sudden realization to strike him.
"Damn! I don't actually know how to cook!"
[...No choice, I'll have to handle this another way!]
With a flicker of Kamui, Obito vanished—only to reappear inside a certain silver-haired, masked man's house.
Before the stunned occupant could react, Obito snatched up the freshly prepared breakfast from the table.
"I'll be taking this!"
The silver-haired man was dumbfounded.
"Oi! That was for Shinzu!" Kakashi protested. "Stealing my bed was one thing, but now my breakfast too?!"
Obito stuck out his tongue playfully. "Too bad, so sad! Later!"
And with that, he disappeared once more.
Kakashi stood frozen for a moment before rubbing his temple with a deep sigh.
"That guy is getting more and more ridiculous…"
Shaking his head, he resigned himself to making another serving.
"Well, at least I didn't have to cook alongside Shinzu this morning…"
When Rin finally woke up and walked into the dining room, she was greeted by the sight of an elaborate breakfast spread across the table.
Her eyes widened in surprise as she looked over at Obito.
"Obito-kun… Did you make all of this for me?"
Obito puffed up with pride, nodding enthusiastically.
"Of course! Hurry up and eat while it's still warm."
"With you by my side, every single day, I'll make sure to cook for you—morning, noon, and night!"
Rin's cheeks flushed red at his words, and with a shy punch to his arm, she stammered,
"You're so embarrassing, Obito-kun!"
After breakfast, Rin picked up the dishes, intending to wash them, but Obito quickly took them from her hands.
"I've got this, Rin-chan," he said. "You just go rest."
Rin rolled her eyes, both touched and amused.
"I'm only a month or two along, Obito-kun, you don't have to be this dramatic."
Obito gently pushed her toward the bedroom. "Come on, go get dressed for work, Rin-chan."
Once she was inside, Obito used Kamui again—this time to teleport the dirty dishes straight back to Kakashi's house.
Kakashi stared at the plates in his hands, utterly speechless.
"Are you even human, man?" he muttered. "Stealing Shinzu's breakfast was bad enough, but now I have to wash your dishes too?! You think I'm your husband or something?!"
Just then, a sleepy Shinzu stumbled out of the bedroom, yawning.
"Husband? What husband?" she mumbled, rubbing her eyes. "Kakashi, who exactly were you calling your husband?"
"Uh…"
Kakashi and Obito locked eyes for a brief moment. A strange, indescribable tension hung in the air.
Obito coughed awkwardly. "Ahem. Anyway, I still need to take Rin to work, so I'm out!"
With that, his face flushed slightly, and he disappeared once more.
...
At Madara's base.
Madara slowly opened his eyes, his expression impassive as his presence filled the room with an overwhelming aura.
"Heh… That was even easier than expected."
In the depths of his right eye, an ominous black pattern rotated within the endless crimson.
The Mangekyō Sharingan.
"Now, all that's left is to nurture it with the power of the Six Paths…"
Madara's voice was calm, certain. He had no doubt he would awaken the Rinnegan before long.
After all, the power of the Six Paths that coursed through him now was dozens—no, hundreds—of times stronger than before.
The Rinnegan was inevitable.
Yet, there was one thing that gnawed at him.
With all this power at his disposal, could he awaken the Six Tomoe Rinnegan?
To be surpassed in ocular prowess by two mere children? Unacceptable.
There was no way he could let that happen.
"I, Madara, will have the Six Tomoe Rinnegan as well."
With a heavy humph, he rose to his feet, the corners of his mouth curling into a smirk as an idea formed in his mind.
"Well then… It's time to visit an old friend."
Adjusting his robe, he stepped out of the chamber and headed for the grand hall of his base.
"I wonder what expression you'll make when you see me again…
"...Don't you agree, Hashirama?"
...
Back in Konoha.
Having just left Konoha Hospital, Obito walked down the bustling streets, hands in his pockets, leisurely strolling without a care in the world.
He glanced at the city around him, watching people go about their lives. He even spotted a few disheveled young women on the roadside.
"Man… It feels weird having so much free time."
Just then, a masked ANBU member landed in front of him, dropping down from the rooftops.
The ninja bowed slightly before speaking. "Obito-sama, Lord Fourth has a message for you."
Oh? If it isn't Yamato. Obito mused. You sure sound like a traitor when you talk like that, kid.
Noticing Obito's smirk, Yamato recalled the ANBU rumors about Obito's erratic temper—and his tendency to kill without warning. Sweat dripped down his temple as he forced himself to remain calm.
"Lord Fourth requests your presence in the Hokage's office immediately," Yamato said. "He said he needs your assistance with an urgent matter."
Obito raised an eyebrow. "An urgent matter? What could Minato-sensei need me to handle?"
Yamato thought back to Minato's words. "Lord Fourth didn't specify. He just said to 'handle things as you see fit.'"
Obito gave a small nod, patting Yamato's shoulder. "Alright, I'll head over. Good work."
Yamato quickly shook his head. "No trouble at all. It's all for the village."
...
Inside the Hokage's office.
Minato sat on the couch, looking somewhat exasperated as he gazed at the two elders seated across from him.
Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado—two long-standing figures in Konoha's political landscape.
Even as Hokage, Minato had to treat them with a certain level of respect.
Koharu spoke first, her tone firm. "Minato, we ask that you reconsider this matter carefully."
Minato sipped his tea with a wry smile. "Elders, this appointment was suggested by the Third. Perhaps we should—"
Homura adjusted his glasses, cutting him off with a smirk. "We just spoke with Hiruzen. He said you are Hokage now, so the decision is yours."
Ah, great… Minato sighed internally. Thanks a lot, Third.
Just then, the office doors burst open with a loud bang.
The elders frowned in disapproval, while Minato calmly took another sip of tea.
Uchiha Obito strolled in with a grin.
"Well, well… I couldn't help but overhear. It seems the esteemed elders have some concerns about me?"
