Once the signal was given, all the students rushed towards the portal, but we three waited a bit before moving. There was no rush. It was unnecessary.
The teleportation is random, and no matter how fast you are, others would be just a few seconds behind you to enter the portal. So, there won't be any major differences whether you are first to enter or last to enter.
So, instead of pushing and falling over like barbarians, we decided to hold back a few minutes before walking to the portal. Since we won't appear at the same place and won't be able to help each other, it didn't matter which portal we entered through. So, we each chose a different portal to enter.
